I convinced my GF to consider Guild Wars...
This will be my first time trying out Guild Wars as well. I have the game bought and downloaded. She is getting off work in 2 hours and im trying to send her a video of guild wars gameplay while she is there to get her excited. She likes cuteness…. and im not sure guild wars falls under that category. So my request is: Please help me find a video of guild wars gameplay or other that would get her pumped to play. Or tell me somethings I can relay to her that would entice her. Thanks!
something something singing quaggans and play asurans is all I got.

Have her play an Asura Thief. This is because Thief weapon skills are by far the most… enjoyable without any knowledge or experience of the game. Once you get the hang of the game and she’s hooked, then have her reroll as something else (or just continue the thief).
Also Asura have the spunky animations that make them the master race.

Nah make a charr.
Thief might be a bit too squishy for a first character. Depends on her general game playing experience.
My gf does not play any game but Gw2 and getting her into it was quite a challenge. Her mini collection was one of the big driving points and loot . Nothing said " I love this game " like genesis to some ones face in wvw " Also be prepared to fork out some Gems for an outfit on the gemstore as mine didn’t like any of the starter ones.
I also got right into the beautiful places in the game and just got wowed by it. The hidden bamboo room in the grove is easy to find. The pirate jumping puzzle in LA. Hoelbrak is pretty as ****
And take her to the new water park in Gw2 called Lions Arch. You should be able to get a lot done there. Also take her to jump off the lighthouse and watch her face. .. you’d thank me later.
Classes I have seen played most by girls is the Elementalist . If you can avoid her choosing it really do. The problem is their attacks are hard to control at first and you keep hitting random animals that keep attacking you and will make it hard for you and her to fight at low level .
Female guardians look pretty cool but my Gf has one Asura Ele ( i wasn’t warned ) but now prefers her norn warrior.
dual axes is the easiest weapons to start of with and add bow so she can fight at range .
Can share a lot of stories with you and if you are on the EU server our guild has several couples that play together and could easily help you out if you are without a guild still.
But good luck sir and enjoying the game together is amazing. And got a lot to thank Anet for in that regard. As im a pretty big gamer and she really wasn’t . So being able to game together has been A M A zing

Unless your GF is the type to want the challenge, Elementalist may not be the best choice for the first character. I specifically chose Elementalist because it was harder. But I like challenges. And I knew if it was too hard, I could use one of the other four slots for another character of a different class until I got the basics down.
I personally didn’t find Elementalist so hard that I kept attacking creatures I wasn’t wanting to hit. Except due to me continuously mashing 1 throughout the entire fight and hitting 1 after the enemy died and my character shooting off a fireball at the next closest thing. But that could happen on any and all professions if you’re using a ranged weapon.
So what one person finds hard about a class, another may not.

Hidden Garden JP is nice too. Might want to bring a mesmer.
Asura necro is the best possible combo in the game, super easy to play, great animations, hilarious one-liners… being a teeny tiny bad*ss, and jumping into the middle of a mob and death-shroud-5/4-ing the whole lot of them to death while taking no damage is just divine
Make sure you show her the wardrobe system, particularly the dye panel; get a couple of really cute minis; if she’s a girlie girl she’ll probably go nuts over the rainbow unicorn finisher (it makes me laugh so hard, I just love it XD).
But really, when I started, it was less obviously girlie things that got me instantly hooked – exploring, for one; finding jps, secret hidden places, and dying many hilarious stupid deaths…I still love those things now The new karka hunt is probably a great introduction, I loved it and I’m sure I would have loved it back when I was starting out, certainly a great way to help get map completion in LA.
Btw I started with an ele, I never found it difficult because I had nothing to compare it to, and in fact it was always really good fun, and felt like it had great adaptability/utility with having different attunements that I could use for every situation. It is visually very attractive, with lots of great effects; don’t let the way top-level players play ele put you/her off, I found it a great way to start
Honestly I would strongly recommend letting her choose her own profession.
The worst piece of gaming advice I ever received was to always pick a basic fighter class in RPGs and only play something else once you’ve finished the game with that. I find it really boring and if I’m forced to play a ‘simple’ class I’m more likely to never finish the game at all.
I had to remind myself of that when I got my husband to play GW2. He’s not the best RPG player and I know he prefers to just play through the story than figure out challenging combat, so even though I know I’d hate it I was extremely tempted to push him to play a warrior or guardian and had to literally bite my tongue when he picked out a Mesmer and an elementalist instead. But I’m glad I did, because he found both really fun and that more than made up for the extra challenge.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
As a female player, I would say let her decide which race and profession interests her. Since she can make multiple characters she should start with one she thinks she will have the most fun with. She can always make others to compare the professions.
She should check the wiki for information on the professions http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Profession and see what interests her or she feels she might want to play. I will say the elementalist was probably the last profession I made but I did not find it hard to play and ended up liking it and the mesmer quite a bit. Actually I am sorry I did not roll those earlier, though the experience of the other professions probably made those a lot more enjoyable even at the lower levels for me.
Early on it can be a bit frustrating as one learns the mechanics. If you go along with her as she starts out and gets more confident, then any profession will be just fine as long as she feels she is having fun with it.
I was in GW2 for over a year before hubby joined in. He had never done anything like this before so I laughed myself sick when he ran into a wall for 5 minutes straight until he figured out the controls, lol…. I still chuckle over that. He picked his own race and professions from the beginning and I occasionally would come along to guide him if he asked for it. We helped each other complete maps and hearts etc. and have had a ton of fun. Often we do different things in different places but will often pair up together for events or Living Story stuff.
Just go with the flow as it happens and don’t worry whether she will like this or that. If this interests her she will find her own path just fine. Just don’t get disgruntled if you find she is realllllly good at something you are not, lol….
Mesmer clones explode into pink butterflies. That’s pretty cute. Also Asurans are cute.
She should play an Asuran Mesmer for maximum cuteness. Oh, also, consider buying the Quaggan Mail carrier with gems to have a silly little aquatic cute creature bring her mail as he flies in on a helium-filled balloon.
If you want cute, go with a female Asuran axe wielding ranger. I love the default axe throw
Let her choose her race and class! When I started playing, I was told by somebody that I probably wouldn’t like the one I chose. They were very wrong.
She can create any armor combination she wants using transmutation charges. You are not limited to full sets and you do not have to use a particular armor piece because of its stats. Then proceed to buy her a few outfits and transmutation charges. She can go to a bank at any time and click the wardrobe (closet) icon and preview every skin in the game.
Start with leveling in your starter areas and be sure to visit Lion’s Arch – you can find a pink portal in all starter cities that will bring you to LA. From LA you can get to any other race’s starting city (so if you choose different races, you can still meet up almost immediately). You get a LOT of experience doing the yellow heart quests, it doesn’t take long to hit level 10 where you can continue your story. Even if you chose different races, you can join each other’s personal story by being in a party and on the same map.
Take a look at the achievements and see which you can do at your levels. Jumping puzzles, some of the Explorer, and more can be worked on at lower levels. Find the world bosses that spawn in zones of your level and run to unlock a waypoint closeby so you can join in the fight. Find a guild for newbies so you can ask questions and get help when needed.
Story dungeons start at level 30 with Ascalonion Catacombs, and explorable mode is 35. More info here https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dungeon Dungeons will give you loot, gold, and experience.
Once you get the basics down, you can venture into other areas like Edge of the Mists, and PvP if she’s interested (it took me over a year to step foot into a PvP match). I wouldn’t recommend WvW until 80, maybe level 60 if she really wants to see it.
As a female, and as GW2 being my first PC MMO ever played- I was surprised at how many other females play. I have 5000 hours and no shortage of things to do. I really love this game and I think she will too!
Please, please, please let your girlfriend pick the race/profession she wants to be.
Because, seriously, nothing sucks all the fun out of a game faster than having someone else micromanage how or what you play.
And yes, there is plenty of “cuteness” in GW2.
As far as your request for a video of GW gameplay…

Yep, let her go with what she wants and do not micro-manage her gameplay time. Also as much as you might want to do everything together, it is okay to split up at times if you both want to do different things. Supporting each other during gameplay is great, but you can learn a lot solo and still chat and enjoy each others company.
Let the girlfriend pick what race and profession she wants to play on her own. Let her try a few out. Characters are easily made and deleted if she doesn’t like the style of play or the look of the character after she makes it. Cuteness will come from the mini’s, I have Zuzu kitten of darkness and Chauncey the dapper cat with his monocle and bowler hat.
The fun will be finding fashion choices. I would recommend Human, Norn, or Sylvari females if she’s into fashion, because those are the ones with the best clothes. Asuran females don’t have good clothes, in my opinion. They’re cute, but their clothes aren’t. Charrs don’t have good clothes either but I like playing my charr anyway
