I have no idea how to level.
Dynamic events. Whenever you see a dynamic event, join in. Even bronze participation or a failed event gives pretty good xp.
Yeah, the secret to leveling is AoE. Any attacks you do that hit multiple targets will grant you XP for every single target, and help increase your participation in Dynamic Events.
Orange circles on the map indicate nearby dynamic events, and it’d really help you to run over and do them. Hearts indicate stationary “quests”, and you can do a number of different things to fulfill their requirements. Finally, don’t be afraid to map between different zones: I’ll get into a zone and level at each heart point until I fall a level below the available hearts, and then switch to another zone that I’m now somewhat over-level for and level there until I’m behind again, and switch back. It’ll help you with your zone completion (and give you great loot).
Also, make sure you have every type of harvesting tool, and harvest everything you can. Harvesting grants XP, and if you craft as well, that’ll grant you XP, too. You can sell off your spares or you can keep them for an alt when you get that far
Maybe tell what you are doing and we can go from there.
Personally, I can’t stand how fast xp is gained in this game and I just play normally, completing each zone as I go.
Is there bonus xp for grouping? I’m always duo-ing w/wife.

As Reillan said before, try and collect everything you see and later on make sure to upgrade your tools because crafting yields a lot of experience. Killing monsters doesn’t give as much since everything’s focused on finishing maps and doing events. So make sure to participate in events that you’re near because you can do them as many times as you want.
There is a place in Gendarran Fields called Snowblind Peaks though that has an arena. You get about 1.5k xp for the event there and there’s an event right after that gives an additional 1k xp.
Oh! I forgot but helping downed players gives a nice amount of xp too so it makes everyone happy!
But do everything at you’re own pace. Good luck!

Crafting! Discovery! XP!
I found leveling in lower level zone. For example, other races’ 1-15 zone still gives decent exp. Go to all the hearts/exploration/skill quests, and participate in any dynamic events you run into. I think the game is design on leveling through exploration instead of just killing “boars”.
Here, I just posted this in a different one. Crafting is KEY!
Definitely Definitely craft. You’ll be VERY surprised at how much xp you get.
Also, remember that the trick to crafting is discovery, not production. You get a boat load of XP discovering new recipes.
For example, in leatherworking, I’d take Glove linings, a glove strap, and then an insignia, put them together in the discovery box, and BOOM, lots of xp. Then do it again with a different insignia.
Don’t forget that you can also salvage most weapons/armor you get. I always carry 2 or 3 salvage kits in my pack, and salvage everything I get (unless I need money), and then I depost all those materials in my collection.
They just added a feature that lets you craft without taking the items you’ve put in your collection out and putting them in your inventory.
But you DO need to put items you want to use for discovery into your inventory for them to be able to be used in the discovery tab.
Also, spending some silver on the TP to get materials you need is a great way to boost your crafting level.
You can also switch crafts anytime you want, without losing your level in the original craft. However, it does cost some silver (probably depending on your craft’s level) to switch back, and a bunch of the crafts use the same material (i.e. wood or ore) But it’s a great way to get some more XP if you’ve run out of specific mats for the current crafting you’re doing.
Last but not least, you can search for guides for the specific craft you have chosen at the time and they are really great in telling you exactly how many materials and what materials you need to get from say, 1-75 in that craft’s level.
Try also eating some food, either from vendors, quests, trading market, or you can even learn to become a chef and cook food yourself! They all give really nice exp bonuses and other boons as well :P
Thanks for all the tips everyone!
I’m leveling at a snails pace, suggestions and recommended areas to clear that you found to provide loads of xp.
Thanks in advance!

Short Answer: Do Everything
Detailed: Use hearts as waypoints, they tell you what level stuff is around them – that’s your basic guide. Head to a heart, don’t focus on it, just gather every resource and kill to your hearts content, do every single event that pops up around you. At some point you’ll complete that heart, go ahead and head to a new one – meanwhile keep gathering every single resource, and doing every single event – you may get sidetracked.
That’s good! Eventually you’ll be un-sidetracked, head back towards that next heart.
As long as you’re gathering everything you see, killing random mobs you run across, and doing every event that comes your way you should EASILY finish 100% explore on a map well above it’s intended level range. As a bonus you’ll also complete your daily achievements every day without even really trying.
World vs World will also give u lots of xp specially when the teams are balanced.

Just what I was going to say. I joined WvW at level 12 just to check it out. That’s pretty much all I’ve done since and I made level 50 last night. I just upgrade with drops and the occasional piece of badge/racial gear.
The questing will be there when the queues are slow. WvW is too much fun to miss.
Genius
You get most exp for Events, hearts and exploring. And a buch for crafting, too. But discovering vistas, waypoints, POIs etc. really does help a bunch
Ah yes, and even collecting crafting materials gives more exp than killing stuff I believe. And reviving – both players and NPC.
I’m actually leveling much faster than I’m comfortable with -_-
