I'm loving the game so far- 5 hours in!
Charr area? In the second zone there is a jumping puzzle on the wall you should enjoy.
At level 35 make sure you enter Ascalonian Catacombs.
Whatever you do, just continue to have fun.
Crystal Desert
Thanks very much and I will definitely look out for it when I reach there!
Yay! Welcome to the game!
Thank you so much!
Hey and welcome to GW2, glad to hear you’re having fun! The biggest piece of advice I’d give you is to take your time and enjoy the experience, and to not be afraid to speak up in mapchat if you have a question about anything – people are pretty friendly and most of the time you’ll get good answers and/or other players coming over to help you out. Enjoy the ride
Thanks man, I will happily ask people if I run into any problems!
We all love the game as well!
Enjoy your stay!!
Welcome! Be sure to explore all those starter areas, especially Queensdale. They’re all worth exploring carefully and not just rushing through.
Have fun in game.
I definitely will- thanks for the advice
Oh yah. Don’t just stick to the Charr areas. Make your way through The Black Citadel to Lions Arch and then to the other racial areas. It’s a big world out there,
ANet may give it to you.
Ah! Thank you very much, didn’t really know how to get to other areas…yeah, I’m a noob :P Cheers!
Great to see new prople enjoying the game! It really is a masterpiece imo
As someonr already said, start all the Dungeon storys at level 30, beginning with Ascalon. Especially in the low levels with other new people, dungeons can be alot of fun. Thats also how i met most of my ingame friends!
Take your time and explore the world or even the lore, it might lead you to some Jumping Puzzles and hidden Storys
See you in Tyria :b
Yes it really is! And aw good, glad to hear that it’s a welcoming community and I’ve already experienced some of it myself!
Thank you!
Hey! I also just made a charr character (although im not new) Charr are so cute c: If you havent yet, try /sleep
Its adorable!
I just did and it’s the cutest thing ever!
I just did and it’s the cutest thing ever!
I agree! What server you on? We could perhaps play togetherrr (:
I’m on Arborstone! Hopefully you are too cause that sounds great
I loved all the starting zones by far the most in the game ha. Favorite part of the game. Just keep up with your personal story, try getting new gear every 10 levels if you can, and just simply have fun with the game. It’s not like other mmo games if you played them, this one’s really just about simple fun
We usually have a very great nice welcoming community on forms and in game.
I just did and it’s the cutest thing ever!
If you want something cuter than /sleep as a Charr, try /surprised.

Yes, the community has been welcoming already

OH MY GOD it’s the best thing in the world!
Buy some lvl 0 food and utility (rough sharpening stone) (look for vendors @ starting areas/city/ trading post (press O to open)) and utility (rough sharpening stone)
They will cost you a few copper but together they will add you 20% experience gain on ANY foe killed. they will stack with experience boosters if you have ’m (you can buy a laureate experience booster (30%) for laurels but: I advise against it as laurels will buy you end level jewels. The booster will last you an hour, the jewels a characters lifetime.
Do the hearts, visit cities, use the portal to lions arch when you find it, open up all starting cities.
Try out different weapons as you get them. some will bne fun some will be unwieldy or strange.
For now until tuesday try to use weapons for damage, not for conditions, conditions tend to be quite weak when starting.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

Welcome to the game and I hope you enjoy your stay
Thank you very much man!
I’ve only been playing a couple of days myself and am absolutely having a blast too!!
Although I am still at the downloading stage I am having fun too :P
Even watching videos about GW2 and trying to decide my main char’s profession is interesting and fun.
P.S. I will choose ranger or thief probably

Welcome back. If you still need advice and help, here are a couple of things to keep in mind or try out:
1. I’m sure you know about crafting by now? A few notes here. First of all, you can send materials to the bank from your inventory, and the bank is account wide. Plus, you can XP from harvesting trees, rock, plants, you name it. So go ahead and chop down every tree you can find, and smash every rock you can find. Even if you don’t intend to do any crafting (yet), you might change your mind later. Besides, even if you do decide to do some crafting, but can’t use the materials, you might get an alt who can use them later. Even if you can’t use trees now, it will be nice to have ready-cut trees around if you get an alt who can use them.
2. Don’t sell anything other than junk to the stores, and most junk can be discarded for space anyway. Rather right-click things and sell them at the trading post. There are tons of discussions what to sell, how to sell it and when to sell it, but in short, you’ll make a ton more money this way. I’ve had random, crappy things like low-level white gear selling for 20 copper in a normal store, but got 10 silver for it in the TP by selling immediately. And that adds up quickly.
3. Have fun and explore. While you can outlevel zones and be very powerful, you do get full XP and have a high chance of great loot even from low-level zones. This means it’s pointless to rush to max level, as the entire game is “end game”. Meaning you can go anywhere and do anything if you are high enough level, and you get full rewards for it. Level 67 in the asura starter area? You’ll see level 68 in no time at all. So again: DO. NOT. RUSH. TO. MAX. LEVEL.
4. Hero Points: This is a new system, so there are a lot we don’t know about it, and how to build our character etc. But from my personal experience, you need to keep two things in mind:
a) Play it YOUR way. Don’t read builds how to get max DPS, how to get most out this or that, and so on. Focus on what YOU want to do.
b) I didn’t even try to get hero points from skill challenges/hero point challenges, and yet, I had maxed out my Hero Points around lvl 70, and loooong before 80. Now add the fact you get the third (and final) specialization tree at 71, and I had mine ready long before that. In other words, don’t worry too much about getting all the hero points. You get tons of it simply by leveling up. I suggest getting the ones in the zones you go to, but if you skip a whole lot of zomes, don’t worry about it. You won’t really need those hero points. Not yet, anyway. No idea what happens when the expansion is released.
And finally, there’s gear. I hear people say you should get better gear ever 10 levels or so, and I sort of agree… sort of. But the thing is, character level alone doesn’t matter much in this game. The real issue is character level combined with zone level. So if you are in a starting area, you don’t need to worry about gear. If you are level 30 and have decent gear, you can do every zone from the starter zones up to level 30 zones and not worry about gear, even if you level up a lot by the time you are finished. You only need better gear to deal with stronger enemies, so you don’t need better gear until you go into higher level zones. And there are lots of low- to medium-level zones here. I only get better gear (intentionally) when I plan on going into a higher level area, but I spend a lot of time in lower level areas to get 100% map completion.
