I'm new and I'm naked, seriously, need help.
There is an NPC to talk to at the start. They give you the armor you dreamed off.
There is also a small green square with a white arrow in it, somewhere above your 4th weapon skill. This is used to store/unstore your pet. (only works out of combat)

There is a green star that marks this NPC, both on your minimap and above its head. The top-right of your screen tells you to talk to this NPC to claim your belongings.
It’s only cosmetic, by the way. You start out in a naked “costume” to represent that your character has just been born from the Pale Tree. In game mechanics, your equipment is actually already on your character. Pressing ’ (or the button with the bendy arrow next to your left-most weapon skill) should undo the transformation.
You still need to talk to the NPC to progress your Personal Story.

Okay, thx. Not trying to be difficult but if I understand you correct I am suppose to be naked (it’s like a buff) because tree people sleep in underwear because it’s more comfortable, obviously. Or maybe I never existed before and someone somewhere is in charge of slipping cheap white undies on the newborn-adult pod people. Do you humans wake up naked?!
And I am really glad to hear we have a cosmetic costume section. Honestly I came from playing FFXIV and I so wished for that. I assume this will be like what we can buy from a shop. I’m fine with that.
Does anyone know if I can launch a game from Start Menu in windowed mode or if I have to use a desk top icon to write in the -windowed command on exe?
Also in character creation I could glow in the dark (like my tats and hair) so will I run into like a night time in the game where I can glow again?
You’re naked because your sylvari character was effectively just ‘born’.
It’s also possible to launch in windowed mode I believe, you just have to set it in your options in-game and it’ll remember (if I’m not mistaken; but I’ve been set-up to be full-screen windowed for ages and it’s remembering that so I don’t see why it should be different for you).
And yes, there’s a night/day cycle in every zone as well as certain areas (ie dungeons) set to be either/or, so you’ll definitely be able to enjoy being glowy.
I’m sorry but this post made my day xD

The game uses a 2-hour day/night cycle: day lasts for 70 minutes, night for 40 minutes
Just a small addition
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
Are you cute? If so, it shouldn’t be a problem getting help.
Yeah, I played a Silvari the first time with my wife awhile back, and we both woke up naked. We had the armor showing as equipped. My wife thought she lost all of it, and I thought it was a bug :P So we logged out, then back in, and it was fine. Then we went and talked to the NPC, and “got” our stuff “back”.
It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”

Drow: welcome to the game! Hope you’re finding things less confusing after you found your clothes.

You actually don’t even have to talk to the NPC to get your clothes back. If you just run past the NPC, your clothes will ‘magically’ appear.
Welcome to Tyria, and good luck! =)

You can’t run it in window-mode, but you can choose it in the settings ingame. Press [esc] and look for graphic options. If you choose windowed fullscreen the game will always launch in windowed mode from now, until you delete the local.dat
I must admit, my first thoughts back then were “Where the cat are my clothes”, too.
Hahaha my first character was a sylvari and I had the exact same experience! Where the heck did my armor go! Why am I naked
I did that in Beta, but it wasn’t such a shock because I knew about Sylvari and it fit with the Lore. However, for those that are new to GW2 without prior knowledge, I can imagine the shock there.
I had forgotten that they added that ability to get your clothes just by running past the npc. I don’t think that ‘feature’ was there originally. I think you had to talk to the npc or relog.
Still, it is funny to see people’s reactions to that.
