I'm new please help
Hello, and welcome to Guild Wars 2!
This game is classified as an MMO – a Massive Multiplayer Online game. Therefore, you will be playing online at all times (in order to play the game you will always need an internet connection).
There are “heart events” which are your basic quests to help you level in PvE and get World Completion. You will also have your story missions to help you “beat” the story part of the game. With that said, the story missions are all instanced, which means you play by yourself if you choose to (you can also choose to bring a party with you, but it’s optional).
Other aspects of the game are done with other players around. If you are doing a heart event, there is a good chance someone is doing it as well. However, only you can get credit for what you do (others don’t get credit for what you do). Everyone also gets the same loot/experience if you kill an enemy together. There are a lot of things to do in the game – such as crafting, dungeons, PvP, and WvW (World vs. World vs. World), and some of these will require playing with other players. This is an MMO, though, and it’s a part of its genre. You will never be forced to party up with players, however you will probably find that it’s fun to do sometimes.
Good luck!
Thanks!!
I got some more questions:
How do i see when i level up?
If i level up, am i going to hit higher, and get new spells? im a Mesmer
Do i get more spells as i level?
Greetz!
Thanks!!

When you level up, an explosion of light will occur around your player. This will also interrupt any action you are doing and knockback and damage enemies around you.
You will gain 1 skill point for every level after level 5. You will gain 1 trait point for every level after level 10.
You can use these skill points to unlock more skills.
You can use the trait points to gain traits (essentially talents).
What you’ve just done is the introduction. It is a lot more linear than most of the game because it’s intended to give you a quick, basic overview of the main mechanics. Mainly the fact that unlike a lot of games (particularly MMOs) you won’t find an NPC with a quest marker over their head who will tell you exactly what’s going to happen and then you go and do it in your own time. Events in this game can and do happen at their own pace, whether players are around or not and you need to look out for either the orange notifications or NPCs running around asking for help.
But once you’re out of the introduction you can do pretty much what you want. At first you’ll be too low level for some areas (the map tells you the recommended level for each area) and you will have your Personal Story pointing you to particular places but nothing is actually locked out. If you wanted to you could go (via the purple portals) to another starting area and do the activities there and not go back to what you’re “supposed” to do until you’re level 80.
If you’ve ever played an Elder Scrolls game or Fallout 3 it’s a lot like that. The game will recommend places to go and things to do but it’s up to you which ones you actually do.

You will also get more spells by using each weapon to unlock additional weapon skills (which for a Mesmer are spells). But you’ve probably seen that happening already.

This should help
Personally I hate when someone tells me to go read the manual, but it is true that it helps. So does the official wiki… So look here:

Folks on these forums are typically extremely helpful, but discovering the answers is like exploring the game world — part of the fun.
Good luck and welcome to the game.
And of course the sticky “OMG if you only knew this” as the top of this board.
