Guild Wars 2

I bought Guild Wars 2 two years ago i think, maxed a thief and then quit the game because i found it to be boring. When the expansion came out, i found out i forgot my account details therfore i just bought a new copy of GW2+exp.
I leveled up my thief to 80 and after two-three days of maguma madness i quit again.

But now i am back. These failed two tries of mine dissapointed me therfore i am turning twards the forums here to ask for guidance and help , at least to enlighten me about the actual game of Guild Wars 2.

At the present moment i have a thief 80 with no personal story finished, no maguma story finished and freshly started a crack in the ice storyline. A guildie of mine suggested i do the maguma storyline.
but i am more interested actually in what am i to acomplish exactly in the game as it follows :
do i need to be active in maguma events? do i need to farm something special or something to get better gear?
i know i need to grind fractals for better gear .
i do well in pvp.
i dont like WvW.
i like hunting world bosses as they spawn until i get bored.
so , my question is – what is there to do at the moment? what exactly and more precisely should i farm/grind etc? prob should try level my profesions . Sorry for bad topic , but im looking forward to GW2 because WoW:Legion failed, once more. I have a main there and i got to the stage where i need to make alternate characters in order to lie to myself that i have a porpose in that game to do something.
I like GW2 but for some reason the game allways manages to cast me away. ill be active arround here, maybe together we will find a answer to my little confusion. I want to enter the game but i dont know what to do. Somewere here on the forums some1 stated that dungeons are no longer in use and i know alot of rewards just give stupid items and stuff so i wont lie to myself that i get rewards so often in GW2 that i eventually salvage.

Generally speaking, it’s not about grinding gear. Do you have exotics? Those are sufficient unless:

1. You plan on raiding
2. Plan on doing high level fractals
3. Have an itch for BiS gear

If you want to get in to raids or fractals, exotics are fine to start with and you can work on building ascended gear. Its recommended that you have at least ascended trinkets to get started, and crafting gear will likely be more efficient so you’ll need to look at leveling your crafting to 500 if you haven’t already.

At this point, though, its probably more about finding things to do that you enjoy. The only thing to ‘accomplish’ in the game are goals you set for yourself, honestly. For some that’s weekly raids. For others its getting to fractal 100. For others its getting a legendary (or 3). Yet others enjoy WvW as their daily ‘end game.’ Others enjoy map completion and completing the story. Some, like myself, do a little bit of everything. GW2 doesn’t hold your hand or lead you around by your nose. It really does expect you to stand on your own two feet and just play (for the most part).
