Should you conplete all the stuff you never bothered with. Like 100% map and the story you probably got bored with..

Or are you missing out on the best bits buy not buying the expansion

Finding the story boring is Inquest talk. Are you Inquest!? o.O

P.S. Buy the expansion if it adds the kind of stuff you do think is fun…. btw, gliding rocks.

The expansion can improve the core experience with gliding and elite specialisations (ie new versions of your profession). The expansion story will make little sense if you have missed previous seasons though. Although I agree the original core story is quite tedious in many parts (it improves a lot from season 2 onwards)

I wouldn’t say you are missing out on the best bits, but (to me) the content is more interesting, more challenging and you can unlock a wider array of options for your toons with the expac.

Regardless, I would get the expac for gliding alone if you want to otherwise play the game. Maybe a couple hours max to get gliding. I also would consider things like map completion as basic to the game.

I would just go back and play gw1. Great game for lore reasons and also as a place to waste time until Anet makes good content again.

If it was me I’d probably play the core game for a bit first – initially just trying to familiarise myself with it again and then working on some of the stuff I wanted to do but didn’t finished. I’d only buy the expansion if I was reasonably sure I was going to stick with the game long enough to actually play it – I hate spending money on games I then don’t play.

You don’t exactly need the expansion to play – there is still tons of stuff to do without it and unless you’re doing hardcore PvP not having access to elite specialisations won’t hurt you. But if you’re looking for new things to do in the game I think it’s well worth it, and I agree with the people who said gliding is a lot of fun and a pretty good reason to get HoT on it’s own.

Great choice, gw1 was infinitely better for pve than gw2 ever was

If you can’t beat it, it is, needless to say, OP

And even if you don’t buy HoT yet but still log into play you will unlock LS3 when it is released shortly. Then all the episodes will be waiting for you when you do buy HoT.

Really? I was told that gw1 was even more focused on pvp than this game…

I only started playing this year, but I really like the HoT content. I just wish there were more of it. The maps especially. They’re beautiful and they all have a unique feel that brings something new to the game.

It isn’t really my thing, but I haven’t seen anything like the DS meta before. That hour-long zerg to the boss and the final battle. Where else can you find that?

TD is the first time in any game I’ve entered a zone and literally spent weeks exploring it before I started to really understand it. VB was a nice introductory exploration challenge, too.

Then you have gliding and the other masteries, which you put to extensive use in exploring these maps. And the elite specs. I haven’t unlocked them all as I don’t have a stable of characters for every class at level 80 yet, but on my thief the daredevil spec is game-changing. It makes the class a lot more powerful and fun to play, especially in the jungle where you can really put those skills to use!

Your mileage may vary, of course. But if the price isn’t a prohibitive factor for you, I’d definitely recommend giving HoT a try. It may be light on content, but the content that is there is different in a lot of ways from what you’re used to. For some that’s not a good thing, but for players like me I can’t get enough. Just wish there were more!

And if you get bored of it, that core Tyria stuff is still there for you to do things like map completion (I just did crafted my first legendary so I had to go back and do that myself!). Only now you’ll have gliding and a new spec to play with.

Edit: By the way, if you (or anyone else) would like some help finding their way around the jungle and/or completing the HPs to unlock your elite spec, feel free to contact me in game. I run HP/MP trains in TD for fun anyway.

Good content is subjective. There are a lot of players that enjoy the content that we have right now, and if this is a returning player then there is all that much more content for them to do

I played when gw2 1st came out made a ranger and guardian both norn to 80, I just lost interest now after many years I would like to come back. I hear the guardian is a modern day (wow) paladin, shaman..basically useless and low dps..while the ranger is close tot he Mesmer in damage in the lower end… so if I get HoT xpac and a free 80 what would be a good class I can get into that’s very good pve wise? I do like to cast from range but want the survivability to solo aswell …never tried a warrior and the charr warrior seems appealing but for now I need to find a new class. if you can plz advice me I would be very appreciative..
