So Much Blur
Im Sad....DEV's do something about it
So Much Blur
1. Im curious about that look you described, specially since mostly i use a Mesmer Asura.
2. Very nice of you to worry about the others.
I believe that if people read the patch notes they get to know that stuff, but i second that. There’s no reason to not have a few Quests around as a tutorial, to introdunce players to things like LFG and Guilds.
It depends on the zone and the population. Esp now with the LFG tool you won’t find too many ppl at the dungeon until it’s time for the run and that’s provided they’re even on the same world.
I think one of the nice things about GW2 has been the community aspect. Sure like any other communities you’ll have trolls and bad eggs but on the whole most people are nice to each other. If one player gets defeated and another happens along s/he will usually res the other. Or if a player who is running through the area with a low level character and starts a fight with a veteran and is struggling I’ll usually slow down and help them drop the vet. On many occasions people have posted in map chat asking for help with a skill challenge and there will be usually a number of ppl who will run by and help. I’ve done so myself on many occasions.
In fact just tonight, a player dropped into Vigil Keep and asked if anyone wanted to get up the Aetherblade JP saying that his friend was a mesmer and was at the chest. A whole bunch of people took him up and ran to the JP to get portaled up to the chest.
The best thing that showed the type of community that grew up in GW2 was evident in the early days before the trading post was up. People were still getting to grips with the economy and no one had any idea what anything cost. Hell, we were still ooing and aahing about masterwork items! People who wander into towns in Plains of Ashford and call out in say chat that they wanted to sell stuff. People then proceeded to use the mail function to send items and receive payment. That obviously had its risks since someone can just run off with your item but as far as I saw no one ever did that. Everyone was new and was willing to support each other to get to grips with the game. I think that still has a big hold. I regularly see in LFG that there are veteran players who offer their services to teach newbies how to run dungeons or to help with story mode. Just because they can.
I love that you are concerned about other/new players. I am trying to build a guild around helping new players, as that is one of the most enjoyably things for me (I just read a post from a new play talking about the fact that leveling seemed slow, so I logged in sent them some food and oils with instructions, and told them to with me in game if they are NA). One of the things that can/should/does set this game apart is a community that helps.
I’m sorry but that’s just life.
However, you can make a difference.
per aspera ad astra.
I levelled my first character and was most of the way through my second before I knew about guilds. Back then there was no LFG, only the websites and I didn’t know about them.
Part of why I moved from the EU servers to US was because I had always had negative experiences on EU servers in ANY game I played, and much better experiences on US servers (APB: Reloaded, Crimecraft). Suddenly I found that rather than being shouted at for talking in chat, as happened often on EU servers, or finding that noone else on map knew English, there were actual conversations going on! People were calling out events in map chat! On EU servers, I got ridiculed for asking simple questions since GW2 was my first MMO’RPG’, in the US, people always offered help.
It still took me a while before I found a guild (I believe a guild is not something you join but something you are invited to, once you find/prove that you are compatible with current members), but generally I found EU servers to be very insular and cliqueish places. Piken Square appears to be an exception to that rule.

Possibly this one? I had it on my Asuran Ele for a little while -

The Family Deuce. Asuran Adventure Specialists.
The whole social aspect goes 2 ways though, if you dont talk to people why would they talk to you? We had people join our guild rep for a month, never get involved in conversation, never join guild dungeon runs and then just leave for another guild.
I agree about the lfg thing at lvl30 and think that is a great idea.

It might vary a lot between servers, especially if you pick one where the majority of people don’t speak english so they’re not able to answer you but I’ve always found people on the EU servers to be really friendly.
Even when I was in WvW during Season 1 asking questions like “but why shouldn’t we attack the door?” or “Why do we always go in the door at keeps and towers but through the wall at Stonemist?” I got really good answers.
I met a lot of really nice people on lots of different servers while guesting to do the Marionette as well. Sure there were sometimes people who were rude or demanding, but the majority were friendly and wanted to help people learn the fight.
IMO GW2 has the friendliest community of any MMO I’ve tried.

The game is called Guild Wars. How can you advertise guilds any more? It’s in the title.
Azrael.4960 You just described a beautiful online gamming community, that saddly does not exist, as a whole at least. Like someone said, there’s bad and good people everywhere and alike there will be servers that overall are quite friendly (your case possibly) but others not so much (well, i won’t complain about mine, but it isn’t as interesting as the one you described). With this said and based on the other MMOs i played, i don’t find the gw2 community particularly great, but that’s merely my experience and i’m not saying it is bad either, just that it isn’t ‘’off the charts’’. Also i tend to find the Forum Community more friendly and helpful than the players around the maps, but that seems to be a tendency in every online game.

So that’s the one? Not as similar as i was expecting, but indeed..interesting :p Maybe i should get one for myself lol
I think expecting Anet to “fix” your “sadness” is misplaced. You DID exactly what all players need to do to “fix” the issue. Rather than ask someone else to fix the issues that make you “sad”, why not make it your mission to do something about it yourself. No doubt the reason behind what you did to help these players AND this thread are a start.
I 100% agree that the game is not a social as it could be but I myself am an introverted type of person (as are MANY MANY computer gamers) and being “social” with people I don’t know, frankly makes me uncomfortable and at times annoyed. Some players LIKE being alone and an anonymous player in the game and for them, nothing needs to be “fixed”.
I’m the first one to help someone when I notice a question or request in map chat (if I am able), but I’m not one to go out of my way being friendly to those I don’t know.

But unfortunately there are no wars…
