In PvP are stats equal?
In a sense, yes. In PvE, you can armor spec, putting certain stats into your armor and weapons. In PvP, that’s removed, so the base damage and defense is the same. That being said, you still have traits, so you’re probably not specced into defensive traits.
You have just as many total stat points as everyone else in PvP, but the starting builds are not necessarily optimal. Also, ele is a pretty difficult profession to succeed with in PvP, so you’ll likely feel weak for a while.
Are you talking about World versus World or structured PvP?
In WvW your character gets upleveled ans stats are based on what kind of gear you have in your current level and usually results in inferior stats compared to lvl 80 characters.
In sPvP everyone uses the same stats that are freely available.
If you mean PvP matches organised through the Heart of the Mists/the menu with the crossed swords icon then yes, everyone is level 80 and has full level 80 stats no matter what their level is in PvE.
If you mean WvW, in the Borderlands and Eternal Battlegrounds maps where you have big groups running around capturing camps, towers etc. (accessed through the menu with a little tower icon) then it’s a bit more complicated. Here’s an explanation copied and pasted from a reply I made a while ago:
Whilst all your attributes (aka stats) are boosted to what they would be if you were level 80 you’ll still be at a disadvantage because the boost is a simple multiplication of your real attributes and these come from several different places that you acquire as you level up.
For example your traits. At level 80 you have 70 trait points, which most players split between 3 lines, giving them boosts to 6 different stats and unlocking 14 bonuses.
At level 19 you’ll have 9 points. If you’ve put them all into one line that will give you a boost to 2 stats and unlock 1 bonus. If you’ve split them between different lines you’ll have a smaller boost to more stats and no bonuses.
Likewise low level armor and weapons gives you extra points in one attribute (as well as the attack or armor rating of the armor/weapon itself). Level 80 gear gives you points in 3 attributes. So while your one bonus will be scaled up you won’t get any points in other lines like level 80 players do.
You also won’t have all your utility skills or your elite skill unlocked.
You’re also playing an elementalist which is widely considered the hardest profession to master. They’re not bad (in fact at level 80 if you know what you’re doing they’re extremely powerful) and there’s nothing wrong with playing one as your first character but you will have a harder time surviving than someone playing for example a warrior (where combat is much simpler).
