I’m asking this here because after filing bug reports and such I’ve never received a single reply on the matter and can only assume that Arenanet doesn’t consider it their problem.

On the UI, in various locations, such as when I have a mob targeted, the hyphens/bullets between things get converted to ASCII characters other than what they are supposed to be showing as.

For example:

• displays as É

This isn’t limited to the selected target window, but also shows up in the crafting lists window when using a crafting station, as well as other areas in the game.

Does anyone else have this issue, or has anyone experienced it but found a fix for it?

Yep have had this issue for months and months so have a lot of other people I speak to.

Re-installing GW2 was one suggestion I read, but this did not work for me. Would be nice to have a fix though as its been around a really long time

The UI pulls from your OS’s default font. You might want to revert that back to something like Arial, if you did change it.

sadly not that either, though the advise is appreciated. Mine is just a vanilla win 7 install

I wonder if this has to do with a setting on Windows 7 regarding how it handles the extended ascii stuff.

I vaguely remember making a change a long time back to allow my system to display international and extended characters for use in some programs.

By the way when you say you’ve filed bug reports do you mean you use the in-game feature (on the support menu) or you’ve submitted a ticket via the support website?

Because if it’s the first one then that’s why you haven’t gotten a reply. They don’t reply to in-game bug reports. It doesn’t mean they don’t fix the bugs, just that they won’t tell you personally when they’re working on it or when it’s done.
