I returned to the game, left about a year ago, and the inflation on legendaries was insane. I left and it was around 1400-1800g for a legendary and 400-800g for a precursor. Coming back I imagined some inflation but not more than 1000g. I know inflation is natural, but i was wondering what the causes were specifically. Is gold easier to get for people, i.e. better farming areas? Or have drops become rarer for precursors and mats needed? Or is this just normal for a game economy. Lastly, will it now take longer to get one than before? (before it was like 2-3 months of intense farming, maybe even less) give or take a couple week depending on luck, perseverance and ability to trade on tp)

It’s about the same amount of time depending on how much you play and how effecient your methods are. The increase in price is also more due to supply and demand than any inflation. There are dozens of threads that can explain it much better than I can but it had a lot to do with the update to the wardrobe making Legendary skins available accoung wide and thus increasing demand.

Partially it’s the other materials for Legendaries but Precursors shot up with the introduction of the skin wardrobe. The ability to keep your Precursor skin on file to paint on a lessor quality weapon while still having a Legendary drove prices up. Also their small supplies on the TP have occasionally reset their value when supply is driven close to 0. This has happen with several Precursors during the time you were gone.

That said prices have come down a bit from the most recent peak for Precursors.

We are heroes. This is what we do!

It’s not inflation. Inflation is something that happens to the whole market. Prices as a whole have stayed steady or gone down. It’s luxury goods pricing, which is a whole different debate.

Precursors have become more valuable because of the wardrobe update, and their price has also gone up because there are more level cap players who can afford to pay lots of gold.

I am making so much money now. I dont ’even farm now and I make as much money compare to 1 year ago when I actually farm.

More gold from dungeon, new champ bag, inscription salvaging.

Anything you do in pve is rewarding you with money.

Well, you’re missing one important thing.

It’s not about inflation. The prices on Precursors started hiking around the time we got the Wardrobe. The Wardrobe made it so that making a legendary unlocked the skin for all characters on your account, making Legendaries far, far more attractive to people.

It’s just that a lot more people started making Legendaries, thus spiking the demand for precursors. Heck, most of the precursors are hitting a price plateau at about double the previous price.

Ah this all makes sense. Its nice to know tho because i wanted a legendary before I left, and now i feel like i can get one. Just felt really behind the game with how expensive they are now. Thanks for the info! (and sorry if this is a repeat of other threads, i couldnt find anything using the search function, although that seems to be a problem for alot of people)
