Every since the new update a few months ago how do you infuse rings to +10. These new empty infuse rings keep on overriding the simple versatile infusion i been adding to these rings. I will always end up with only +5

The second slot only accepts Agony Infusions. That is not a generic term that is their actual name. You should have seen a bunch of them if you have been doing fractals. They drop as +1 Agony Infusion. You can craft them up to higher amounts with an artificier. You also have to do that before you put them into anything.

seriously, I feel like this is a step back. Those +1 agony infusions are pretty grindy

It actually goes up to something like +32. It ends up costing a fairly insane amount even if you could get infinite +1 ones for free.

If you just want +5 for both rings (as in, for the agony slot) it’s not grindy at all.
