Hey guys. So I’m building a new computer and I have to decide what processor to get. Currently I’m stuck between 4th gen (Haswell) and 6th gen ones (Skylake). Some people say there’s still compatibility issues with Skylake, but they’re superior in performance, so I really don’t know..

I’m aiming for i5 6600 Skylake (6th gen). Should I go for it?
Does GW2 have issues on that processor?

Also what would be a good chipset for that processor?

Go for the 6600, better than haswell. Dont where you read it, but skylake cpus dont have issues with the game

Just got a new rig 2 days ago with the i7 6700 and had no issues with GW2 so far (besides that even though I copied the gw2.dat from my old machine I still had to download 11k files with ~2.8 GB no matter what- but that’s certainly no CPU related issue ).

4th gen vs 6th gen, generally theres a 5-10% increase in performance depending on what you do.
go for i5 6600, or get a little bit more G to buy the 6600k
there is no reason to go 4th gen, ddr4, m.2 x4 pci-e ssds and usb C are some kitten good features available even on mid range motherboards, so you get all the new bling

Depends on if you have DDR3 memory you wish to reuse or you are building entirely, well the guts (CPU/Motherboard/RAM), from scratch.

DDR4 is the future for now and that’s 6th gen. Not sure the OC potential difference between 4.5th gen (Devil’s Canyon version) and the 6th.
