Intel Core i3-3250 vs Intel Core i5-3470
Yes it is. True quad core beats fake quad core. Also the i5 has turbo boost to bump up the clock speed. The game does generate enough work load for 3 cores so a 3rd real core will help.
RIP City of Heroes
Thank you, the i5 it is.
Definitely go with the i5.
i7 is a waste for this game (or just about any game in general), but an i5 has some significant performance edges over an i3.

Thanks guys, came in the mail today, and I got it installed, glad I flashed my bios the day that I made this post, (needed to do it to get the new cpu to work)
Anyone else who is still running a dual core from the same or close to the generation as my Pentium, I defiantly recommend an upgrade if you can afford it, the game is a lot smoother now, in fact, my PC as a whole is running smoother.
Great to hear it.
RIP City of Heroes
Congratulations for getting the proper quad core i5.
It also gave me finally a rock solid game performance where the various AMD Phenoms failed miserably.
All you now need is a (128GB minimum) SSD to run the OS from and GW2, and you won´t recognize your system.

I’m curious, how did the game run on the G630? I have a G620+mobo sitting around and I’m not sure if it’s worth setting up as a home/travel PC.

Sorry for the late replay Fermi, the game was playable. I had my graphics set to around medium, and still managed to be useful during events like teq, fps were low, but I was still able to function.

Why one SSD? Get two one for OS and one for the “most” played games.

Why?
An SSD won’t become slower if it’s filled up, the traditional HDD would though.
How much performance will he gain if he uses 2 SSD’s for two different tasks (OS/Game)
