Invite to party via right-click
I don’t know why. But I know you can circumvent it missing by temporarily adding the person to your contact list.
The vast majority of the time I cannot simply right click and invite unless the person is on my friends list. I need to type their name into the player window then click invite – then half the time that doesn’t work either, so i have to click “join” even though they’re the only person in their party. It’s very annoying.
Looks like option does not update properly, as it’s present sometimes when their party is full, but not present sometimes when it’s not.
Maybe it’s a bug and no one reported it, so no one is fixing it. We should test that.
I’ve only ever had it not be available in WvW, and that seems to be a design since no one can right-click invite in WvW.
I don’t know why though…

Usually i also can’t invite with right click. Have to type whole name every single time.
My only guess it’s the distance between players. Still i have to test it.
^^^ I’m able to invite people on my friends list to my party if they’re on the other side of the (game) world but I can’t invite someone in the same map as me if they are a stranger without having to type their name into the invite window.
Hi. For me it looks like a bug. Overflow LA, WvW… Right click on name and see only “Report” option. And it’s everywhere same: Friend list, chatbox name, guild tab both (guild and roster).
Only after whisper with reply I can choose other options.
In Friends its verry frustrating for me, because I cant remove one accidentally clicked..
.. second non bug, but unplesant feature is that when I can open right click tab and want “Invite to party” someone with party its easy miss with “Invite to guild”, because option is not here and I quick look for ^Invite..
