Is It Just me?
I spent 1 hour and made 1 gold at level 15 from farming from Drakes…so I don’t know what you mean.. 1 gold will get you 2-4 levels, and it is not hard to get 1 gold.
1 vial in 300 kills sounds quite low.. Are you doing all the events you come across? If not from the random mobs I meet in the world, I usually get quite a few crafting materials from loot bags dropped while doing events. Renown Hearts and Dynamic events should give you a decent money income. Are you exploring everything the zone has to offer? The game really rewards you for going out of your way to see everything there is. Zone completion adds more coin and materials. You should come across enough mobs to build up a decent stock of crafting materials as well.
If you want to be super fast about it, then yeah you might have to buy these things on the trading post, but just completing zones and visiting more areas of the same level (say all the starter areas, and all 10-15 zones rather than just the ones specific to your race), I have no issues getting mats.
Once you know which enemies drop the materials you need, just go find some populated spots. Skale and drakes can almost always be found at rivers, for example.
Sanctum of Rall
Well I myself am 33 and have done this by neurotically getting 100% completion on each starting city and the connected zone. I have had enough materials to level one crafting profession. I imagine I’d have enough for two, discounting Cooking of course, but I chose Armorsmithing and Weaponsmithing. And actually, now that I think on it, I’ve got both of them leveled to the point where I now need Iron rather then copper. Weaponsmithing is just lagging behind because I’ve not done as much Discovery with it.
What advice I can offer you is to simply not sweat it. Go do something else if that one thing is irritating you. Wander around and have fun, there’s no hurry to be maxed out. ‘Endgame’ effectively starts at 30 as, to my knowledge, that’s the highest level requirement for doing dungeons. There isn’t a subscription cost so the pressure to ‘get your money’s worth’ is gone as I’m certain you will eventually dump 80+ hours into the game. (I paid 80USD, so that’s 80+ hours minimum)
As for getting those vials, open the loot bags. Those usually have crafting materials inside. You can also salvage items to get the more basic materials.
Like others have indicated, what you’re describing doesn’t seem quite right. Are you trying to farm in one single area? What exactly is it you’re doing? Between salvaging, and map exploring alone, I’ve found no shortage of cash, or the ability to start on crafting.
