Is "Midnight Fire" Dye bugged?
It’s not bugged. Color changes depending on the type of material/texture of the clothing.
There’s a reason why when you sort colors, it gives you the option “By Material”.
I see you painted in a mustache and eye patch as well.
Some parts are just not dyeable or will come out a different color then the dye you picked . I was dying my neco in all blood red till I upgrade his coat and one part would come out orange so I had to trans back to my old coat to keep the colors matching . Choose your clothing carefully some just don’t play well with other and its a bummer after you spent 2g and it just won’t dye well.

That “eyepatch” is an engineer’s headpiece from character creation. It is possible to transmute it over better head armor all the way to 80 exotic.

That particular eyepatch is also available as Medium armor in the game, no reason to go transmuting from another profession. The goggles from creation of an engineer are not available otherwise as far as I have seen, though I could be wrong on that one.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Kokocat is correct; there are different kinds of materials (cloth, leather, metal, etc) and they take each dye differently. Midnight Fire is not, in fact, a black dye, but a very dark brown, and it can look anywhere between brown and black when you apply it. Sorry, that’s the nature of the system.
