Is "Stealth" a Boon?
I think necro can only remove one buff per tick, so if theif has a few other buffs, which they most likley do. It will be almost impossible to remove.
Still, the well of corruption is a 45 second cooldown, while a theif has multiple stealth positiblities. So at best this would annoy the theif and delay his 15K backstab on the necro.

My post was not about Thieves being OP as the title suggests. My Necro has little trouble with most thieves 1v1 because I am a condition build and use gtae wells a lot. Unseen or not 90% of the time I’ll see a downed thief suddenly appear a few feet away from me from stealth. My post was more about the curiosity of whether the “Stealth” ability is considered to be a boon.
Another thread posted a perma stealthed thief in a zerg tagging people, I just thought a few necros tossing down Well of Corruption could sniff one out as the rendering bug is allowing for a delay.
The thing about stealth that gets me, is that there is no animation to indicate that a player has gone into stealth. For all I know, that person’s computer could have been struck by an atomic bomb and they disconnected.
The other problem I have with stealth, is like you, if there is a counter to it I don’t know what it is. As far as I can tell, you can hit somebody while they’re stealthed. I’ve stood there spinning my sword (I’m a guardian) and watched them appear as a pathetic pile of button mashing shame on the floor beneath me. But as I was destroying them, there was no indication that I was doing it!
It’s silly how stealth works. I charge giant zergs all the time, turn into a cheetah, and poof away while people avoid trying to look for me altogether because they know that they’ll never find me. I want those suckers to chase me, man!
I never read the instruction manual, but I would be willing to do so with regards to stealth. It’s a skill that any thief should be able to use, but not to the point that it makes killing them an impossibility. Those thieves who are able to use it that way are rare, from what I’ve seen. Most of them just stand there spinning around until you kill them dead. Those that know what they’re doing are too difficult to catch for me to bother trying.
Stealth is not a boon and is not effected by boon duration benefits, and as such I would assume it cannot be removed as you describe. Here is the wiki list of boons:

I think the benefits of making it a boon, ie stacking duration, will far outweigh your idea of a counter.
i don’t think stealth is a boon. i.e. don’t think there is a way of actively removing it. that being said, as others have mentioned, you can still hit someone who is in stealth, you just won’t know how effectively you’re doing it or doing it at all.
in dungeon runs, i’ve been able to immobilize mobs right as they go into stealth mode, and then you can still see the chains around them. though, that might have been a bug / stun-locked at that one time. can’t be sure and need to test more.

You might have seen the engineer trait Cloaking device (adept trait VI from the invention traitline): ’ You become invisible when immobilized.’
The chains keep being visable, but not the character.
