Hey guys i recently made a guardian and me and my friend decided to play each map together and do each heart at the same time i was just wondering is the XP from the hearts shared between the two of us or do we get the same amount we would if we were playing it by ourselves?

You get the same amount as if playing for yourself. There are only two things a party really does.
a: Give you partychat
b: gives you blue dots on the minimap

c: allows you to enter a personal storyline quest or instance with the other person.

You can also draw on and/or ping the map for each other, set personal waypoints.

You can call targets (ctrl+T) for your allies to target with the T key.

In some events where there are a lot of participants, being in a party helps to give you credit for some kills you might not have gotten solo.

You don’t need to be in a party, but if you do events together, your guild will recieve more influence than if it was done alone.

Parties also are the basis for dungeon groups.

Parties do a lot, and all of it is helpful.
