Hello everyone, this is my first post on these forums.

I have a question/concern.
I am from the Northern Shiverpeaks Sever and it seems as I am running around questing, there is NO ONE to be seen. even when I ghost to the “bigger” severs, I can’t seem to find anyone, even in Lions Arch. It makes me feel like I am alone playing this game. And its not because I am in overflow, because I wasn’t.

I guess what I am asking is where are people? Is everyone just hanging out in Orr or is there really that few of players playing?

Not the first time I’ve seen something like this posted; probably not the last. I can see how a number of servers could be pretty dead at the moment – mine is relatively active (Sorrow’s Furnace), so I haven’t had this issue.

So, to answer your question, there are plenty of people playing, it just seems they’re not where you are.

I see, It would be different if I saw like 10 people out questing when im playing, but I played for four hours today and only saw 1 guy, and he was in lions arch. Just odd I guess.

Eh, I on SoS see quite a lot of people regardless of area :o.

Is it a guesting thing then? Do I not get to see as many people? I didn’t have this before when I played, but just started back up and noticed this.

That is pretty bad. Do you play on people’s “off hours” (ie: most are asleep/at work)?
I usually end up in LA overflow when I go there, unless it’s during one of the dead times.

But, one other person is definitely lonely. Really, in this case, I would look into a transfer (if you play WvW and that’s just as dead), or I’d just guest all of my PvE. Try a few servers until you find a lively one.

Sea of Sorrows is pretty lively, and when I guested I got put into overflow. I thought “awesome ill see some people”. But then I traveled to the regular zone and nobody was there. I looked all over LA and no one was to be see really except for like 3 or 4 guys .

My guildies and I up and brought ourselves over to Tarnished Coast when it was still free because of this.; we were on NSP as well.

You shouldn’t be put into overflow if there are so few people in the regular LA. They could be mostly camping out around FotM portal. Could also simply be culling, which would cause you to see fewer people than there actually are (not tied to you guesting, just to how many people the server draws).

Its deserted everywhere but 1-15 human zone. Anet said they’re making events more worth it and i just LOL at that. They haven’t done anything nor will do anything for a level 80 to make them do the hundreds events this game has. Events are repetitive, boring and unrewarding that’s why everyone is in LA leveling up by crafting instead of questing…

Just really weird. Are there more people in LA or Orr?

I am currently standing (guesting in Sea of Sorrows) in lions court in LA and see no one.

Sorry for the double post, but by chance could this happen:

when i guest into sea of sorrows, it takes me to the overflow, then when i travel it takes me back to shiverpeaks LA?

I’m also in NS and LA and overflow LA is always brimming with people. I always see lots of players near banker, outside of that building, near mystic forge, TP, crafting stations, fotm portal, and just walking around.

(EU) Desolation is very active.

Maguuma as well.

i see people in Lions Arch in Fort Aspenwood anytime i go there. And most of the time there are people to do events with although there are more in late afternoon early evening.

If servers are dead?

Just remember that just because you don’t see or hear anyone, it doesn’t mean there’s nobody around. I was in Lornar’s Pass a few hours ago and nobody said a thing in chat for over an hour, and I only saw two or three people. Suddenly 8-9 people showed up for an event, went their separate ways, then there were another three people at a different event. Still, nobody said a word (except that one guy asking if there were any events).

A few days ago I did the Frozen Maw with about 30 other people and the only words spoken were “Maw up”.

Sometimes people just have nothing to say.

Strangely I see people in the Wayfarer Foothills all the time. I mean a lot of people. It’s probably the busiest zone on Tarnished Coast next to Orr. Totally weird. lol

When I go to open world, I always meet 1-3 guys doing DE, wherever the map.
When I fight dragons there’s always a lot lot of people…
Don’t you have culling or computer issues OP ?
Or maybe we don’t play in the same timezone.

Agree. I do that.

I’m on N Shiverpeak server too. When I went to wayfarer foothills there were tons of people there running around doing everything. It could have been because of the living story happening there, but tons of them just looked like noobs doing obviously nooby crud over the whole zone. In Queensdale it’s always madness, noobs stampeding over the plains all the time, frantically shouting about giant wasps and trolls.

In Lion’s Arch on the same server I always port in and get thrown into an overflow presumably because there’s always a lot of people in Northern Shiverpeak Lion’s Arch.

No idea what OP is talking about.

Its weird is it possible that I have culling happening? And could it be reduced with lower graphic options? Because honestly i never see anyone in LA or in the areas anymore other than maybe 1 or 2 by the portals to the WvWvW.

when i first started playing (charr) i saw, at most, 1-3 people running around in the zone with me, and usually only those at “event” areas… hearts, skill challenges, scripted regular events area, etc…my husband, however, was constantly running into, and even grouping with, other people over in the norn newbie area. i rolled a human, and saw loads of people comparatively speaking.

i still sometimes go a while without seeing another soul, but there’s plenty of places i still see gobs of folks…

might be a culling issue.

I’m at Ruins of Surmia. It’s one of least populated servers and still there’s always some people around at any given time of day. I strongly believe this is issue on your side.

I have noticed that when I do see people, they only pop up when they are within about 20 feet of me. So could this be a technical thing on my side? And is there anyone who knows how to fix or has had experience with this?

It could have to do with the new ally culling. But, do you have your chat on? Are people in LA speaking in chat, but you can’t see the character models?

I cant see models and there is no one chatting other than in map chat.

I’m from NSP too. I always see lots of people. Not just Queensdale either. I always run into people while questing. We have many people in Orr and I never have trouble with DE just about wherever I am. Isee lots of people standing around in LA too. Especially in front of the bank and near the crafting stations.

I’d look into tech issues OP.

And that is exactly the problem. I just went there and not a soul in sight. So this is starting to sound like a tech issue maybe? I have my graphics all the way up on everything except shaders, but I messed with a few and didn’t do anything. Should I try a full reinstall to see if it fixes or are there other things I can try?

For another test go stand by the laurel charr near the mist gates. Always lots of people standing there too. I’ve been playing all day and LA has been bustling every time I’ve gone in.

By bustling can you give me a rough estimate of how many people? It might just be my game then, I am reinstalling. But regardless I dont know if my “bustling” is the same as yours

I don’t know. Maybe 3-4 at the laurel lady, 5-6 at the bank, same by the forge. I think usually like 3 people at the weapon smith. Lots of people coming in and out at the trading post. Probably about the same number as the bank? More now though. Counted 8 as I’m standing here.

Hm I was expecting like 20ish around that area I guess. Regardless I don’t even and 3-4, I will let you know what happens after the reinstall
