I leveled a Necro, Warrior, and Ranger to 80, did all the areas, but was disappointed in RvR and the dungeons. Too imba, and the RvR involved way too much lopsided slaughter followed by running through an empty field.

I uninstalled it, planning to give the game more time to mature. My question is this: is there any evolved endgame content? Is the RvR more balanced out so that it isnt just one side dominating every time? And have the PvE dungeons become more than a “just keep dying till his HP reaches zero” type thing?

Thanks

There has been some balance work done, yes, and they’ve been hyping their progress with culling in WvW. As far as new content….well depending on how long you’ve been away we got a new supposedly endless dungeon called Fractals of the Mists, and….not much else to be honest.

There is an island you can reach through Lion’s Arch, but short of farming for a new crafting mat no one ever goes there, and there is nothing to do there. Kind of dead-end content really. They hyped it, added it, and have since done nothing with it. Honestly I think they may have forgotten about it. At the very least it was a “go nowhere” plot thread.

Well there was a big WvW (RvR I guess) update a week or so ago that ended culling (so no more fighting in empty fields) and introduced titles and a WvW skill system. Numbers are still advantageous ofcourse. the Dungeons are on the trend of becoming harder rather than easier (they have only reworked AC currently) by introducing more skills to mobs and changing some boss mechanics (e.g. traps for ghost eater)

Well, that’s a tall order since there have been content additions every month…..
Off the top of my head they added:

Guild Missions
Fractals (dungeon which scales in difficulty to infinity)
A new zone
Living Story
Leaderboards
WvW ranks
Dungeon revamps
More jumping puzzles
Ascended gear
A couple PvP maps including CTF
Skritt burglar events
Upgraded loot from world drops & meta events
Flexible daily & monthly achievements
Tons of polish to existing content including dungeons
Tons of balancing to professions

You can take a look at the patch notes to see what I missed or more detail on what changed.

Well, that’s enough to re-install it! Thanks.

That’s the nice thing about no monthlies. No loss to me to jump in and try it a second time.

When was the last time you played? Were Orbs still around for WvW?

There will be weeks where your server will be dominated, but the match ups change if youre patient. Some tiers have a better experience than others. For example tier 2 WvW is very competitive between all 3 servers.

WvW you will still have to run across the map. To solve that, don’t die often and play it smart. Wait until the battle subsides around you and let people res you.

Also if youre on a decent/good WvW server, get on their server voice chat. When things are organized and everyone is working together, the experience is way better than just roaming around by yourself.

For dungeons with the “zerging” (dying, ressing to attack, dying, ressing to attack until it’s dead), you can’t do that anymore. The whole party has to be out of combat to allow people to respawn. Groups that have to still resort to that have issues with the party skills/equipment/tactics.

Honestly, the core game hasn’t changed much to a point where it’s a different game. And asking people is the least effective way to find out if it’s “matured” in your eyes. If you had space on your hard drive you should have left it there instead of uninstalling it. It doesn’t cost you a thing. Read the patch notes that have come out since you left and just try the game for yourself. There are tons of people who still enjoy the game since release regardless of the pitfalls you saw in the game so their opinions here may be biased.

Just fractals…. DUDE WTF? we have got way more than that. granted Fractals has been some of the best.

Basically nothing to do end game that you haven’t already done. For a free game I’d go play Age of Conan if you want end game content and you have to install anything. The combination of all makes it great, you can even control your necro pets!

So why are you here instead of playing that….. =_=

there’s plenty of new content in this game. even if its not traditional “end game”

If you like mini-games/jumping puzzles check out the Super Adventure Box in Rata Sum. It is the holiday content for April. It is a throw back to 8-bit old school video games like Super Mario. It is a lot of fun and has been well received.

Also make sure to check out the Flame and Frost story line. As far as content goes there isn’t a ton, but the story is intriguing and the latest additions were pretty fun.

The new zone that was added is a little sparse on content, but it has started to tie into the new Flame and Frost update and will hopefully provide some more content at the end of April with the final installment of the Flame and Frost story line.

Because I’ve been with my guild over three years and they left, when Rift came out and we’ve moved to other games too. When a game is no longer fun, they(your guildies) at least can hold you there, many are on vent but playing whatever now. Most have quit playing and we’re all waiting for Elders scrolls. He asked for opinions and he got mine, he left once because he was unhappy with the game, I do not see anything that has come out to make him happy now. Not once did I say the game sucked nor anything like that, everyone enjoys what they enjoy, that doesn’t make a game suck, some of us enjoy more end game, more guild raids, which I do not consider a 5 man group. To each their own. GW2 got a lot more of my time with 6 level 80’s compared to the two days I gave gw1, 15 days of rift and zero to TSW. Compared though I play COH for 1 1/2 years, Wow for 5 years off and on, Aion for over a year and AOC for 2 years. The only reason I played SWTOR was because of my guildies. There’s nothing like a close guild doing a 24 man raid and having a blast doing it(even while learning the raid) because its laid back, everyone gets everyone’s sense of humor(raunchy). In the right guild, you all seem to move to the majority approved game because once the pack moves on, you are having even less fun.
