Q:
Is it possible to change screenshoots path?
Technically yes you can use a hard/soft link in the file system, you can also change the location of your My Documents folder – usually by right clicking on it and selecting properties.
Hard link and soft link are somewhat more difficult depending on if you get a decent piece of software to do it for you or you use the command line for it. Google those for more information, it can be tricky sometimes to get it right.
The reason it’s different on different OS’s is due to the coding conventions used for different OS’s. Windows XP had them in the GW2 folder/screens, but later OS’s have a convenient system variable to use for various folders on the system that became easier to use in new OS’s.
Ah yes, I know about hard/soft links (I have used it some times) also as I know about changing the Documents folder location (currently it’s not even in the default location in my system). However, based on what I know about the hard/soft links, the game would still try to use the default location, so the path showed in chat would still be the default, even though the files actually would be physically stored on a different path.
(I forgot to mention, I’m on Windows 7)
Changing the location of Documents folder would do the trick, however I have already moved that folder to another location but I have set up my system for several users. Because of that, even though the location isn’t the default anymore I still used the username to keep the folders organized. Changing my whole Documents folder just because of the game screenshoot isn’t sounding like a good move for me.
I just was wondering if there would be some hidden setting or another way to change it independently (oh while writing I just recalled I saw a screenshoot with it pointing to someone’s Desktop folder O.o). It looks like the way would be changing the location of Documents folder then :S
Thanks for the answer!
