Guild Wars 2

I have a few high-level characters, and I want to make a new one, but I really don’t want to have to go through the tutorial again. It’s really time consuming and annoying. Is there a way to skip it?

By the way, I haven’t played in over half a year, and the forum search comes up with no results, hence my thread.

You can’t enter pvp from the instance, and you can’t leave the instance without completing it.

While you can’t skip it, you can skip chunks of it by simply running to the end boss.

For example for humans, if the gates are closed simply jump down to the water and run around up the hill to the boss.

Which would take nearly as long as killing a few centaurs and letting the gate open. But most of the content in the starter instances CAN be run past with no trouble, I agree.

Anyway. The introductory instance isn’t very long anyway. Just go through it, I say. (I personally don’t even rush it, BUT that’s just me. You said you find it annoying, so I can understand your desire for haste.) It’s not as if it’s going to take up much of your time anyway.

You can get lucky sometimes and run to the end boss and get close enough as someone else is finishing the tutorial boss and get credit. I’ve actually gotten thru the tutorial in less than a minute (more like 30 sec if not trying to equip key-run gear) like that (but it’s a fluke chance…you can’t really plan it).

Sort of depends on what OP considers time consuming. The human one you can run straight to the end section, at most 2 or 3 minutes, sometimes much less. The Norn one you have to do a task first then speak to an NPC then run to the boss, maybe 3 or 4 minutes. I think the others are similar but it’s been months to nearly 2 years.

Which starter instance is it? Someone can probably give you hints on how to do it fast.

Sincerely … loging into the forum and creating this topic takes more time than finish most of the tutorial instances. :P

Good point…my comment was for a key run / human tutorial point of view.

As I recall, Sylvari is rather quick and Asura is a bit longer (but fairly quick). For the life of me, I don’t remember the Norn & Charr ones (those are my oldest characters and these are generally considered poor choices for key running).

Charr is as long as the Asura, is the one where you need to fight against the Duke Barradin (giant stone statue dude :P)
Norn is the longest imo, you need the hunt a trophy and after that you need to kill the wurn Isomir.
