Q:

I recently came back from a hiatus and still catching up on things. I am wondering if it’s possible to unbind a ascended trinkets or legendary weapon by means of the Mystic Forge? I remember discussing this with my guild on vent and /g and someone said if you infused the trinkets or transmute the legendaries they become Bind to Account again. Is this true?

A:

For Ascended gear: upgrading a piece of Ascended gear via the MF (backpieces, rings) will make it account bound. This applies ONLY to upgrades made via the MF- infusing an item by putting an infusion into an infusion slot will not unbind it.

For legendaries: they can be moved from character through a roundabout way that requires gems.

1.) Transmute legendary onto a white item, keeping the stats of the white item and the skin of the legendary. Do NOT buy a white item from an NPC weaponsmith, as those whites are soulbound. Buy one from the TP.
2.) The transmuted legendary should now be account bound. Move it to the character you want to transfer it to through the bank.
3.) Use a transmutation splitter (300 gems per) on the transmuted item. It will give you back your legendary (now soulbound to the character you used the splitter with), the white item, and the sigil.
