Is the Windows "Sticky Keys" option allowed?
I’m pretty sure you can hit F11, go to the bottom tab and keybind it to some other key, not sure if that’ll help, but you can keybind it to another button on your mouse as an example.
They always spawn in the same location[s] so you can just rotate through the spawn areas to see if they’re there or not instead of blindly running around.
Thanks for your replies. The keybinding to a different key won’t work for me, though, because I have a small, light mouse with only few keys which I already use for other things like dodging. And basically any keyboard key I would have to keep pressed constantly would cause the same pain, even if it’s not CTRL. I know there is a fixed number of chest locations, but there were already around 100 even before Challenger Cliffs were added and the chests are very hard to spot without pressing a key to show the name plates. I really wish there was an option in the game to show object name plates constantly, just like player names. Really not sure why there isn’t.
I seriously doubt that this is considered to be “botting”.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
I don’t think they’ll ban you for it, it isn’t an exploit.
For a definitive answer, possibly, you can always try submitting a request to the CS Team.
Good luck.
It works like this. Officially they have to say that ANY sort of macro or ANY third party program is against the rules.
Unofficially, they won’t bother you if you’re not having the game play itself.
For example: Binding a button to do nothing but repeat left click while held down, moving the cursor yourself to mouse over a stack of consumables and holding that button down until the consumables are gone.
Against the rules? Yes.
Are you going to get banned/warned for it? Very unlikely.
Use the same button to trigger an exploit that fires a skill twice before cooldown or something, and you can expect to lose your account.
Now if you program a macro that moves your mouse, opens the game at night, walks your character over the bank and consumes all of your essences of luck… That’s a red flag too.
Your case, you should be safe.
Only thing is, if you ask CS, you may get a secure answer or you may get a realistic answer.
It’s a bit like asking a cop if you’re allowed to go 0.1 MPH above the speed limit. Technically no, but it’d be pretty rare to get pulled over for it.
I think you should be fine. The rule on botting, macros etc. is ‘1 key press = 1 action’ is ok, anything else is not. And technically what you’re proposing falls within that.
I have something similar set up on my mouse: I press a button and it acts as if I’m holding the right mouse button down until I press it again (or press the right mouse button), and for the same reason – sometimes I need to hold it down for long periods (jumping puzzles for example) and it hurts my finger if I do.
But other than the fact that I’m not physically holding the button the function is exactly the same.

Maybe you should look into an IDI macro device. I have the fragpedals, they offer a huge amount of functionality, even enhancing your other peripherals. Almost mandatory for some people with disabilities or injuries. The person who turned me onto them had very limited functionality in one hand and swore they opened up a whole new world that had been closed off after his accident. I can see how, they are pretty awesome.
