Hey everyone… I’ve been playing GW2 since first beta and I stillll haven’t decided on what class to main lol so I was wondering if you guys could help me out a bit.

This guy will mainly be used for WvW Roaming with a Thief friend.

I’m looking for a profession which is:

  • Challenging,
  • High skill cap,
  • Gives plenty of opportunities for trolling,
  • No need to kite. I really dislike kiting,
  • Decent mobility, but that’s not really necessary now that Traveler runes have been changed.
  • Good in dueling,
  • Good at being a roaming partner with a Thief,
  • Decent in PvE (doesn’t need to be great as I’ll only really be doing FotM/Arah for gear skins etc.)

I have tried Thief, Warrior and Guardian a lot. I enjoy these three professions but I don’t really think they’re for me. Thief being too squishy, and Warrior & Guardian being too simple/easy to play.

Thanks for all opinions and input in advance.

Trolling isn’t a really high necessity for me… mainly the other things.

Pretty much everything you list is subject to certain situations, but you should give Mesmer a try.

No need to kite. I really dislike kiting,

Errr… you might want to look for another game as intelligent mobility is pretty much a survival requirement in upper level encounters. “Tanking” in GW2 serves very little purpose and is almost guaranteed failure most higher level areas.

I’m not trying to be discouraging, but not moving in this game is a sure way to spend most of your game sitting or lying on the turf. You CERTAINLY better keep moving and learn to dodge in WvW or you will be continual Finisher practice.

Sounds like what you need is a mesmer. Not only are their utilities highly valued in dungeons, they are the ultimate trolls of this game. Even more so than thieves.

I honestly don’t feel like answering your 5th thread about profession choice

“We have no first-person view because stupid people would lock into it”
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”

Eek… I was really going to recommend Mesmer, untill:

  • “No need to kite. I really dislike kiting,”

I mean, part of trolling is kiting ;D. Theres nothing more funny than running circles and teleporting all over the place while a max height bald norn is trying to chase you with key turning, and when he gets upset and wants to “finish it” he uses the transformation elite and spam skills. On a clone.

But yea, Mesmer can be specced very well for duelling, it has high active defense and an incredible skill cap, with every skill having more than one uses, where most are tricky but very rewarding to use.

You can also catch up, escape, chase, speed kill and troll with your thief friend.

Mesmer sounds like it will be rewarding for you. Here’s why:

You set up good combos with thieves, and if you duo with a thief often you both have stealth mechanics (excellent for roaming in WvW)
You have a wide variety of interrupt potential, regardless of how you trait.
You have a more complicated-to-play class that is much less fire and forget style you experience with warrior or guardian.
It will be more about set up and planning than reacting, but the class still allows you the freedom to hit the panic buttons and cause a lot of random mayhem.

You might also look at ranger, oddly enough. With a greatsword and a longbow you can interrupt and increase your mobility tons.
