Is there a way to switch map instances?
I don’t know if there’s a basic way but I use the LFG tool and find a group doing stuff on that map. Usually they put a percentage of map progression or a couple of words to label what they’re doing. Or you can make a group asking for what you want in a map and see if someone ferries you in.

If it’s one that’s popular with farmers LFG might help.
Otherwise try asking your guild/s if anyone is on a map that’s at the right stage (and not likely to be progressed), or try guesting to another server. (Yes guesting does still make a difference.)
If it’s a map with a world boss or other popular event the best approach for what you want might be to get in to the map as everyone is arriving for that event, then wait for it to end. Most people will leave but the map will stay open as long as someone stays on it. But the game will likely flag it as one to be closed, meaning other people won’t be able to join unless they enter by grouping with a friend. Which means you’ll have a map with relatively few people where the event chain is unlikely to be progressed.

There’s no reliable way to change map instances. There are some tricks that can help:
- Have a friend (repping a different guild) enter the map and then add them to your party and _join in" to switch.
- Guest to another popular world: if there are several instances available, you can usually get into a new one.
- As mentioned, use LFG.
- Wait until the map has a 4-event daily or just before/after a world boss.
None of those guarantee that you get into a new instance; they just increase the chances.
