Hi. Just curious if there are any other types of quests besides the heart type or the events that pop up? Are there quest givers like in the other games? Its kinda getting stagnant for me as I have finished everything I seem to be able to do and the next area is too high for me, so I’m kinda stuck in limbo!

Thank you.

If you have already done all the quests for a particular zone but are not at a high enough level for the next zone I would suggest trying the other zones that are your level. And example would be if your between levels 1-15 and finish the asura starting zone, but want a change of pace try the charr or human starting zone to level yourself to the next zone levels.

Nope, GW2 was designed to not have quest-givers standing around doing nothing. The closest thing GW2 has is the personal story. Personal stories give pretty good xp.

There is the big personal quest line that you have. That gets pretty epic later on. There are also daily gathering and kill quests that when you complete them give you xp and a little extra. Exploring the zones completely and grabbing mining/forestry/gathering nodes can give you extra xp and keep things a little varied.

I would suggest doing dungeons (if able), getting experience with gathering/crafting, or as mira said try another racial zone.

Imagine the heart quest are more of side quest you have to find. I usually do a mix of fun world events, heart quest, and WvW to keep my interest. They are some great world events like the dragons or Kol.

Have you tried doing them starting from another starting area? Each race as it’s starting area but there is nothing stopping you from using the Asura gates going through Lion’s Arch to travel to another one where you haven’t been to before and do the quests there.
Depending on your level there might be other things you can do, such as Dungeons (lvl 30+) or things such as WvW or Crafting that will also give you some XP.

I find myself starting out with the idea that I am going to go to a certain point on the map, a heart or a vista or something else, and about twenty paces into my journey I am sidetracked—resource node, event nearby, a mob to try out a combat tactic on—and short story long, sometimes I do actually get to the place I had originally intended to go to. For me, there is almost too much to do in any given area. I like it.

Am I a turtle or a hare gamer? I wouldn’t know, there isn’t a game I have ever finished.

Pretty much the same for me.

Hearts are less for game progression but to give direction to players who are used to theme-park style MMOs (eg WoW style quests)

Although I rlly hate to admit it, but their style of Dynamic Events and taking you completly of your track really gives you such a “Real Time Experience”, like you’re on a true adventure and not just some MMO

Unfortunately, also the Level Zones, Poor rewards with level scaling and repetitivness does take much FUN and Enjoyment out of it.
It brought GW2 to be a game that is prefered to be played one day, then take a week long vecation from it so that you wouldn’t get bored because most of it will repeat itself.
I’m not saying the Event itself (which is also a downside), but All races have pretty much same/simmilar DE, only character name and size are changed XD

The saddest part it that they don’t have Dynamic Journey like I hoped for, meaning Event that happens in a series of DE trough out 2-3 days,

-4DE 1st day, 3DE 2nd day, 4DE 3rd day to a huge climax,

that will repeat itself in maybe 3 weeks or a month. Something that would really give an edge to gaming industry and MMO as we now it.

My advice : -try other races areas
-complete them fully for rewards
-try and have fun

And DON’T FORGET, no matter which lvl You are you can always go trolling to WvWvW …just click “B”

I’ve been playing this game like it was a real life adventure. When I ran out of stuff to do in my races areas, norn, I went over to the Charr area. I like to explore. The scaling makes it worth while. imho.

Find Asura gate in your origin city and go through it to Lion’s Arch, then get Asura gate to other race origin city, I like Charrs area cuz they have some really funny quests, like launching cows through catapult. Human’s area is kinda boring, same farms all around. And don’t forget to proceed with storyline too (green quests) it will bring you to other locations.
I wouldn’t say that scaling reward are poor, got lvl 26 blue bow out of lvl1 simple rabbit other day. Reward is getting scaled for your lvl too.

I have just the opposite problem, that my characters level quicker than I can finish the zones.

Note that often if you talk to an NPC, you’ll get some hints where/what to do.

You have LOTS of choices how to level, and how to play.
For me, the renown hearts are meh, so I pass a lot of them by.

A character is lvl 25-30, In areas 25-35 You will get around 1000 Xp and corresponsding Karma and Gold

Character lvl 25-30 goes to 1-15 zone …. You get around 200 Xp, and corresponding Karma and Gold

Ever since I saw that I’ve been avoiding low lvl areas like hell

Doesen’t pay off ^^

This is one of my current complaints, as i’ve been going around to the lower level zones to complete them all and am currently around level 62. I get downleveled so it will be a challenge, but the rewards are beyond useless. Some of the events are even longer and more difficult then the ones i just did in a zone that was more my level, yet all i get is under a silver or slightly over, some vendor trash, etc. :P

Once i do all the hearts this will be worse, as you only can really see events if you are kind of close to them. Would be nice if you could see at least all those in the zone you are in.

Well, you make a good point. I like to get all the vistas, points of interest though. So, in that sense, it makes it more worth while than if there was NO exp or loot at all, like in most other mmo’s. So there is SOME value in going back to lower level zones. Also, it makes helping friends a little more appealing. Better?
