Hey there, just wanted to ask a question as I’m genuinely unsure if this is a bug or if we just slipped up somehow.

Me and a friend are playing as sylvari and have been doing our personal story quests together. We’ve been picking different branches and whatnot and I ended up picking to join the Vigil while he joined the Order of Whispers. No problems, until now.

We hit our level 40 personal story quests and went to go meet Destiny’s Edge in Lion’s Arch (the Setting the Stage quest). Afterwards he decided to accept progress since it’s the same cutscene anyway.

Since we decided to do my personal story quests first, he went with me to do A Fragile Peace and meet Almorra Soulkeeper. After we exited I saw the next part was taking us into the Charr area where we hadn’t been yet, so I suggested we do the Order of Whispers quests first. That’s when he saw a green personal story marker taking him to… A Fragile Peace. The first quest in the Vigil storyline.

We were very confused at first and for a moment I worried if we messed up and he accidentally joined the Vigil, but no- it says in his Personal Story log he joined the Order of Whispers.

I just wanted to know if this was a bug or something. Sure seems like one to me, as I don’t think when we have different Personal Story quests that he should be able to make progress in his, right? It shouldn’t be directing him to do my Vigil quests just because he joined me, right? Just feeling a bit confused.

Yeah, that happens if two people with different story choices do an instance together like that; the “guest” party member will end up on the main party member’s story track if they accept credit for doing the quest.

So… does that mean he’ll be stuck in the Vigil permanently, or just for the level 40 chunk of our personal story and then he can resume his own Order of Whispers questline? :< I hope not forever, that’d really suck.

He needs to make sure he does not accept credit for any personal story thing for the next chapter. It will course correct at the end of the chapter. Or at least that’s what I’ve heard.

It’s not happened to me before.

He’s still technically considered a member of the Order of Whispers as far as what gear he can get.
