Hey guys I need a bit of help here (having a Dev chime in would be super helpful). Logged in this morning to a piece of mail that came from a player by the name of En Saikya (Who signed the end of the letter as a GM). It claimed my account was showing odd currency transfers and login times. Which it does. It continued to say that I needed to verify my account on the link below or possibly get it restricted
(YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN’T CLICK THIS THING)
URL REMOVED
So I figure ok, I made a lot of gold on the TP, I haven’t been logging in a lot lately, I probably look like a gold seller. I figure Ill just go fix this. So I put in the URL. start filling out the form…… And realize that its probably all the information that could be needed to get into my account.

->I also realized that the mail that had been sent to me didn’t have the Anet logo ANYWHERES on it<-

Soooo did somebody just forget to turn the little red light on over at the office, or do I need to start hiding my stuff because scammers are after me?

Extra info: The link looked legit like part of the GW2 site. It had the banner and everything, but when I clicked on the login button in the top right it gave me 404 error code inside a bunch of chinese.

I’m freaking out here, somebody please tell what I need to do

You should probably remove the link. Otherwise have a look at this thread explaining all the regular phishing e-mails -

Also I’m guessing if you looked at the bottom of the message you received it will say “This is from another player and not Arenanet” (or something along those lines). That’s a good indicator it’s not legit.

Phishing scam. Report it to the GMs for confirmation.

Usual thing. Change the passwords on both accounts and make sure they’re different.

Yeah I did that but I’ve never been asked for it. When does it ever ask for that number?
(i just read that it asks for it if i try to log in from a different Ip. and THAAAT would be why they asked for my address. I knew that part smelled phishy)

It’s not that hard for phishers to get access to people’s display IDs, which is what they use to contact you in game. It’s much more difficult for them to get your logon credentials (including your gw2 email address), which is why they have to phish for it.
