Issues at the beginning of HoT
The egg thing is pretty simple. She stole it while we were distracted fighting one of Mordremoth’s lieutenants.
You can use the Wiki (accessed via the link above) to read a synopsis of Seasons 1 and 2, if you so desire.
You can use in-game Gold (exchanged for Gems) to purchase Season Two, as well.
Good luck.
You might want to put a Spoilers note/tag on your thread title since you’re getting some spoilers that other players might not want to know about yet.
During Season 2 the Pale Tree is attacked by a champion of Mordremoth and is very seriously wounded. We still don’t know how well she has recovered. Also, as you already stated, the Sylvari are Mordy minions. The Pale Tree, I believe, is a purified Blighting Pod (you’ll encounter Blighting Pods and what they do as you do more HoT story). It’ll explain it a bit more as you do more HoT story, but basically some Sylvari are able to resist the call of Mordy and some aren’t.
As for the egg, as was said above, Caithe stole it while we were distracted because she believes it is her duty to protect it. Basically, she just acts rashly and goes about doing the right thing is a really bad way.

Thank you for your response.
Understand about spoiler tags. I must say, it might be difficult to decide where spoiler tags begin, they could be called for for everything after lev 1 or everything after the most current release. Since Season 2 has been locked, it seemed reasonable to be thinking of spoiler tags for HoT onward.
I have a load of Crystals in the inventory, along with a number of other currencies. Many given when I bought the Expansion. It has occurred to be to use them to open Season 2.
I have held off, as far as possible, using any of the currencies, other than gold/silver/copper because I don’t know if these may become essential later.
So far, other than stuff bought from the auction, there seems very little worth buying, so very little use for the other currencies.
I think I’ll splash out on Season 2. After all, what’s the worst that can happen?
You can use the Wiki to find out what you can buy with any currency. Just search for the name and you’ll be taken to a summary page about the currency which will include a list of vendors.
It might be tricky as a new player to know what you might want to get with them, but in the worst case you can always get more later on if you buy something and then decide you want something else.

Did that, wise as ever. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Currency
No big deal. One thing I’ve learnt with these types of games is, as far as possible, to take things as they come. The bank system is great because I can store huge amounts of consumables without using up personal space.
This has to be one of the more complicated games of this type.
Currently enjoying the first section of Season 2.
You don’t need to buy LS2 if it’s only the story you’re interested in. If you’ve got a friend with LS2, you can party with him and he starts the chapter. You miss a few details here and there, but you’ll experience the main parts. You can’t get any of the story rewards though.
If you don’t want to play the story for the sinister trinkets, achievements and mastery points then you can also look it up on youtube. GW2 have a lot of streamers and had back then too that covered both living story season 1 and 2 to get up to date with what happen.
Thanks onevstheworld. and Leaa.
Playing Season 2 now and really enjoying it.
I’d recommend it to anyone.
