So a year and a few weeks into my Guild Wars 2 career, I am realizing that Jumping Puzzles are a good way to get some extra loot, crafting materials, and take a break from PvE/PvP. The only problem is I only know how to do a couple of them.

Thus I am looking for people to shadow or show me how to do some of the more rewarding jump puzzles.

PM me on here or add me in game and Whisper.

Thanks and have a great day!

Hello,

Just a small suggestion. I am terrible at jumping puzzles but I was able to get through all of them but one. I recommend a small-sized human or sylvari engineer. The Rifle’s jump shot is wonderful for jumping puzzles. Other classes that have a teleport are good too.

There are plenty of videos out there on how to do them. Dulfy, etc.

Was the one you can’t do with the bomb and gryphons? I had such a hard time beating that one, one single scratch and your bomb explodes. At least you can suicide bac kto the start easily to try again.

Just FYI: You don’t have to get the bomb to get credit for doing Griffonrook Run.

No, I am missing Swashbuckler’s Cove. Not because it is difficult, but because you have to be fast.

The wiki has a page that lists ALL the JPs and those pages have links to YouTube videos that SHOW how to do each one.

Voila! http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Jumping_Puzzle

I also have this tip. If you are having issues in cramped quarters of some of the JPs, try the new first person mode…..I seem to do much better at JPs using it.

I enjoy leading people through JPs. I don’t know all of them but I do have a bunch under my belt. I’m NA, generally available in the afternoons eastern time. Feel free to ask me if you see me on line — if it’s not right after reset and I’m not in SW or a dungeon, odds are high I’ll be able to help you. (If I’m in RP or short on time, I’ll arrange with you when we can tackle the JPs).

If you are talking about the torches in SB cove, note that you don’t have to kill the bandits in the lower cave. Clear the upper cave, then jump to the torch near the planks over the water. Light that first, then the one at the cave entrance second, then light the lower cave using dodge/proj reflect/teleport skills, jump into the water to break aggro, and jump into the upper cave to light the last one, followed by killing the veteran that spawns immediately. Because of this you can complete it regardless of your DPS or runspeed.

I decided a month ago that I really wanted the achievement for the jumping puzzles. I’ve completed almost all of them (some I had to watch a walk through) but many I figured out on my own. I’ll add you as a friend and watch for you online. Be warned: I still fall, A LOT. But I also laugh A LOT. I used to find them maddening, but now… there’s usually such good humoured people playing them, that I just laugh when I fall. All those falls make it that much sweeter when I get to the end.

The only jumping puzzle that gave me rage hissy fit was the one that actually wasnt one. I can’t remember the name but it’s in water and you need to punch in right coordinates in three consoles to be teleported on location of the chest. The problem wasn’t coordinates but other players who keept messing with consoles and swore at me when i pleaded to let me do it.

I think jumping puzzles are one of the best features of gw2. It perfectly complements the game engine. Especially with the recent camera changes. Not all of them even have much jumping. I really hope they continue to release jumping puzzles. I was really saddened to hear no new jumping puzzles in the new wvw map.

Anyway OP, if you ever see me online, I’d love to help with some of the jumping puzzles. So much fun the first time I beat them. I still haven’t done all of them as I’ve yet to finish world completion (I haven’t finished all the zones and puzzles included).

Good day.

The MOST evil one is still the hidden aetherblade one. I’ll admit that I wouldn’t have gotten the achievement without a super nice mesmer that helped. I plan on going back to it and doing it without help. It is the only one that I “cheated” on, and I don’t feel super bad about it, because it is diabolical.

The aetherblade one has a random factor, as the cogs don’t always launch you in the direction in which they should – so to complete the whole thing without help, some luck is necessary. This is not true of any other jumping puzzle.

I’ve never had an issue where the cogs propel me anywhere but where I’m facing. That sucks if that’s a problem for others.

It took me a good while to get to where I am now with the Aether JP. My first time trying it took me three hours or so (spaced across a couple of days). I eventually made it and didn’t go back again until a few months later, by which time I’d gotten a newer (and a good bit better) computer with a better graphics card. That new graphics card seemed to make all the difference for me, as I was able to jump way more smoothly without any issues on my PC’s end. So, I practiced it every day or so. Now, I can do the whole JP in about 7 minutes (sometimes less, sometimes a bit more).

So yeah, practice does a lot of good, as does using your right mouse button to swivel the camera angle. Plus, having a decent computer helps a whole lot.

FPS affects jumping puzzle performance on more difficult jumps. Having a keyboard that isn’t 2kro also helps, so you can actually strafe in midair in addition to pressing the forward and jump keys.

Thing is, nobody starts out good at anything. Some people can learn very much faster than others, but even those with an aptitude for it still have to do it a few times to become good at it.
