I just did wvw jumping puzzles for the first time and met someone that mentioned doing it on all my characters. So I did 1 puzzle on a level 16 that I have and the loot was that about level 16 — Anyway my question is can a level 16 character open the jumping puzzle chests and still have a chance at a precurser drop or only level 80s?

No. You will only get gear tied to your actual level.

So in other words, you should avoid jumping puzzles until 80?

You can always repeat a jumping puzzle. The chests will refresh for you when you return at lvl 80.

You’ll always get loot you can sell (or by some miracle, use), no matter what level, so if it’s fun, if you want the achieve, go for it.

Why? You get a free chest every day from each jumping puzzle.

If you can it must be .000000000001%. I’ve never even got a rare.

All jumping puzzle chests reset after 24 hours from when you last opened them. You can only open then once per 24 hours per account.

i think they drop from the wvw jumping chests not sure on others though

Ah. That chest is significantly better than all others so that makes sense.

Must be a splendid chest or better, with a chance for level 80 drop. I don’t remember any JP’s with splendid chests atm (but i haven’t been to all yet, so might be missing something).

Define “or better” please. I can’t find a hierarchy for chests on the wiki. It would be nice to know where to go for a daily or every few days’ try at it.

Basically, go with a physical dimension. The only chest that i have seen so far that was bigger than Splendid was the one at the end of Karka event.
Jumping puzzle chests are small.

A) I have, myself, got an exotic drop from an LA puzzle chest, and it was one of the unique axes thought to only come from the mystic forge. If those drop, why not precursors?

B) there are types of chest. You can easily observe normal chests (1-2 drops in my experience) vs. resplendent chests (always 3 drops) at the end of a jumping puzzle. I have not found a list of types yet.

if anything, you can always do the LA jumping puzzles. they scale to your level so when 80, you’ll get appropriate leveled loot.

and regarding pre-cursors, i’ve only heard one was found in the Eternal Battlerground JP chest in WvW. haven’t heard it dropping from any other JPs.

jazzllanna, you were likely told to do the jumping puzzles every day in WvW because of the badges, not necessarily the loot.
