Hey there everybody! I am new to Guild Wars 2 and while my game is downloading i just wanted some advice. My first question is: Are there multiple servers and if so which one would be best for both PVP and PVE (most players). 2- What are some leveling roads and which class is best for healing? 3-(last question) What are the order of the dungeons and how fun is the PVP? If someone could help me here i would appreciate it. Thanks in advanced… Can’t wait to start playing!

1 – there are many servers, though once they implement the Guesting feature the only reason to choose one in particular will be to do that server’s world v world PvP. I don’t know which other ones to recommend as I’ve only been on Tarnished Coast since beta, but TC is the unofficial RP server and very highly populated (NA — if you are in Europe you’ll want an EU server).

2 – Leveling isn’t important, it will just sort of happen to you as you explore and do events and gather and craft and help out at “hearts” which are people that need tasks done. They become vendors once they like you.

3 – healing isn’t important. Everyone heals themselves, with minor boosts from some professions (the term for “class” in GW2). But Guardians and Elementalists have the most support healing ability, for what it’s worth, and Necromancers are awesome at taking conditions (debuffs) away from their friends.

4- order of the dungeons will come as you get letters when you get to the right level. The first one is Ascalon Catacombs at level 30 (Story Mode) and 35 (Exploration Mode, must have one person in party who’s done Story to get into Exploration). Every 5 levels you can access more dungeons. Exploration carries the story forward, letting you into different areas of the dungeon and having a setup that accounts for what you did in Story.

-PvP: I haven’t yet done the arena style of it, where you get max level and gear and it’s all about your skill. The WvW side is actually fun (and I HATE pvp in other games!), being a large set of maps to run around in capturing keeps and using strategy in how to cut the enemy supply lines.

The best way to level is to do everything you come across. Everything in this game gives XP – fighting enemies, doing heart quests, doing dynamic events, crafting, gathering crafting materials, uncovering areas on the map, everything.

So unlike a lot of games where you need to avoid certain content in order to level quickly the best way is to use your personal story or the heart quests to show you where to go next and then do everything you come across on the way there.

The only exception is probably the jump puzzles, which can take a relatively long time and have a relatively low XP reward. But I recommend doing them anyway because they’re fun, and that should be why you’re playing a game.

One of the big differences between GW2 and other MMOs is they wanted to get rid of the ‘holy trinity’ of all classes being divided into tanks, healers and DPS. So everyone has a self-heal ability and there aren’t any dedicated healers. But as Shutitdown said the guardian or elementalist come closest. Personally I recommed the guardian because they have more support abilities in general and are less squishy than the ele. (Although I also have fun with my ele.)

Haha. I am an engineer and I “specialize” in being a side kick. I spec to heal and remove conditions, as well as do condition damage to the enemy. Most of this is done with my elixir gun. So healing can be done in many ways.

As to leveling… HAVE FUN! Rez everyone you see down, you get xp. Do every heart and get every vista. Work in a group, you get extra xp.

And do JP just cos they are awesome. lol

One tip that I think will help you. Make sure to do your Daily tasks once per day. Progress can be viewed in the game from the Hero tab → last button on left (achievements I think it says).

Kill 15 different types of foes
Kill 60 overall foes
Gather 20 items
Complete 5 events

Just do stuff normally and then check your progress and do what you have left over.

This rewards a Mystic Coin, Karma Jug (that gives 4500 Karma), and some coin (about 1 or 2s at low levels). Well worth it.

Welcome to the game, it’s a blast.

Cheers.
