This is basically what I was told when I hit 80: “Do dungeons, farm mats, work on getting legendary” .____. ;_;
I-Is that seriously what I have to do…? I mean like, is this not what I’m supposed to be doing? I like PvE, WvW, and PvP, so basically everything…but is this what I should be focusing on? If so, can anyone give me a guide on how to get my legendary? I’m a 2 Handed-Warrior DPS (Greatswords/Rifles). Please help me out ;-;

You don’t NEED to get a Legendary..it’s it only a status symbol / shinny thing that gives you no edge over anyone in PvE or PvP/WvW. The only thing I would say you NEED is a decent set of exotic armor and weapons. So yes, if you want dungeon armor you obviously NEED to do dungeons, you could also just buy a set of crafted exotics or grind karma and get a set of Karma armor.

Any with Berserker stats is all the rage with Warriors.

But if you do decide you NEED a legendary…be prepared to GRIND GRIND GRIND…or put a lot of Real Life cash.

Don’t waist your time on a legendary. There’s no stat increase above a exotic. And it’s a long expensive grind.

Play the whole world and have fun.

The wiki gives directions on making Legendaries.

Take a look at the Sticky’d posts (in red) at the top of this forum.

When you level 80, you just have more choices about where to go and what to do. There is no “this is what you do”. Everything you were told is rubbish. Play what you want, where you want, when you want. Thankfully this game doesn’t rely on endgame and massive treadmills to bog you down in that respecte either!

A legendary is something for us grinders to focus on, but it’s a flashy skin, nothing more.

Fractals have been keeping me occupied for awhile, trying to get my ascended gear. In addition to that, try to plan out a unique looking set of armor. I find my enjoyment of a character is directly related to how awesome I look.

What if I told you, you’ve been playing max level content since level 2?

Seriously though, go have fun! This game isn’t about rushing to the max level just to unlock the game!

Thanks guys, I feel a lot better about being max level now xD
I’ve been farming a little bit of CoF lately, it’s pretty interesting and is making some okay money for me to go off of. Is the gear that you get from CoF trophies or whatever considered exotic like you guys were talking about?

^ It can be if you buy the lvl 80 exotic gear with your tokens.

Honestly though, if you want to have something to work toward, I’d take a look at some skin galleries and come up with a mix-and-match armor set out of the skins to work towards to keep you busy if you want to set some goals for yourself.

A full set of exotics is easy to get, all you have to do is play one dungeon a few dozen times.

If you want to actually enjoy a variety of content as you play, try to find an end-game “look” that you can feel proud of.

Check out the different dungeon vendors and cultural armors in LA to see what you like together. Also, check out the mystic forge skins available via the wiki for different weapon sets.

You basically have to devise your own goals after you hit 80. Do what you think will be fun. Master all the JP’s, map complete, wuvwuv, spvp, make yourself pretty (or terrifying), organize guild events/missions….

Heck, guest on an RP server. It’s really up to what you enjoy doing. Fractals, and explorable Arah are probably the most difficult PVE content if you’re looking for a challenge.

People told you terrible advice. Once you hit 80, at the very least you need to get your gear up to the max stat (exotics) which are a small grind but not very difficult. Once that, do what you want :p The important thing is that YOU set your own goals, not other people :P

Don’t disturb me, I have a cat in me at the moment.

What I think is pretty cool about this game is that ever since I hit 80, most of my time is spent in non-80 areas. GW2 does a great job at making zones and content seamless regardless of level because of their down-leveling system and their up-leveling system makes new content accessible to everyone.

80 is just a number! It’s great! I leveled up my 3rd character to 80 exclusively in zones under level 50 just because I liked those areas a lot. It’s so refreshing to be able to level up no matter where you are. No more greyed out mobs that give no xp. It’s like I was here 2 weeks ago and you guys were trying to kill me! Now you don’t even look at me! I thought we had something special!!1!!

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.

It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

Yea man, what everyone else said. Just have fun and continue doing what you’ve been doing. Down-scaling means you can keep playing open world PvE and having a good time doing it. 80 just lets you have access to everything, but you don’t have to do exclusively 80 content. I’m just about to hit 80 (76 atm) and haven’t felt like I’m being left behind. I can still do dungeons, PvP, & WvW at any level.

Enjoy the game. Im on a Tyria journey right now, just finish all Explored areas, now to do all the jumping puzzles. Or you can start trying to figure out how you would like your character to look, that can take some time.
