Karma To Gold 2016 - Commander Rings
I’ve noticed a lot more people play with their character view elevated super high.
What does it help with?
I make PvP & WvW videos
on an ele it helps with all my kitten AOE?
so how much gold per 1 million karma this way?
So this is a 3 year old tip re-tipped, eh?
so how much gold per 1 million karma this way?
Probably only a 100 gold.
RIP City of Heroes
I tried this today 4 times – used 12 Commander rings and rare items above 60 but no luck – Mystic Forge gave me weapons worth between 2 and 10 silver each time.
By the way, the Commander rings cost about 1400 karma each but as I have 1.75M karma it was still fun to try.
RNGesus again. There is a 20% chance for a quality upgrade. That doesn’t mean you will get one every five times.
Plus the instructions are wrong. Commander’s Rings are level 53. Lowest level exotic is 62. Promoting in the MF will produce an item 3-12 levels higher. So level 60 rare will promote to a level 58-67. That gives you only half the chance a promotion would even be an exotic, assuming an even distribution among the level range. And since the entire range is below level 68, you can’t even get ectos so the rares you get will tend to be not worth much to salvagers.
So in the end it’s now possibly a one in 10 chance. I would stick with the karma to linen conversion. Or start using level 77 and up weapons instead of 60. But that’ll cost a lot more in the long run but you will need fewer trips to the MF.
RIP City of Heroes
First, not sure why this requires a video. Visit NPC, buy rings, combine in mystic forge, sell valuable results; reforge others. That’s it. The only trick is finding the NPC and using a mystic forge conduit to save you from running back|forth to LA or WvW.
Second, it’s a really poor rate of conversion. There’s actually still a 1:5 chance of promotion (Zommy gets a little more liberal in the outputs when there aren’t enough items of relevant rarity & level), but even so, you can get bound results which can’t be sold.
My last round of testing was a while ago (so the specific numbers no longer apply). It ended up being less efficient than just buying Orrian Jewelry Boxes and selling off the lodestones. OJBs return less than 2 silver per 1,000 karma, compared to 5-15s from combining karma-bought gloves, and 30-200 silver for unidentified dyes.
tl;dr if you want a quick way to convert karma, buy Orrian Jewelry Boxes. If you want the most efficient, make unID dyes (or other crafting). If you want a reliable method that doesn’t require market research, convert gloves (crab grabbin’ or Private Felix or Oldgate, depending).
