Krytan armor set
What you got was the Krytan armor skins, not actual armor. Each piece can be applied 1 time. Stats are not affected. To keep the look as you level and get new armor, you’ll have to transmute its appearance onto a new piece of armor.

Just to clarify the Transmutation items:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Transmutation
Transmutation Stone (yellow) – will combine any 2 items that are level 79 or lower (both items must be 79 or lower).
Transmutation Crystal (Silver) – Combine any 2 items where one or more of the items are level 80.
Yellow Stones are very common rewards in the game (completing zones, daily achievement rewards).
Silver Crystals are much rarer and can be gotten a few rewards (daily achievement rewards, Black Lion Chests).
The main way to get these items is purchase via Gem store. (Yellow’s cheaper than Slivers, obviously). Keeping an armor skin all the way thru leveling CAN get expenisve, but if you are smart about it, not so much.
I would suggest that you NEVER buy the Yellow stones as you will have a glut of them (if you run mutliple characters) once you reach 80 and there is no current use for them beyond transmuting less than 79 level equipment. I will admit I have bought these and regret it now (I think I have a stack of 80 or so sitting in my bank).
Sliver ones are often needed to maintain your “look” once you reach 80, but intelligent “gearing up” will minimize the number needed.
I would have cautioned you NOT to buy the skin so early, but now that you have you can either buy yellow stones as needed to keep transmuting the skin to your newer equipment as you obtain it, or temporarily put the skinned pieces in the bank until you can get yellow stones (via doing daily’s or clearing zones) to transmute them onto your new and better equipment (my suggestion).
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
Indeed,
On a first character it is recommended to renew your armor every 15 levels. So make sure you finish two zones in those 15 levels to get 6 transmutation stones.
Towns also reward 3 of these stones. So you can get 18 off them by exploring all the 6 major city’s
The transmutation crystals for your final armor set are a bit more rare. You can buy them on the TP for gems (gems youcan buy with real money or with gold). but it is expensive. It is also a rare reward for daily rewards and opening black lion chests.
