I’ve been away from the game for several months now and only started to come back a few days ago. Sadly enough, I really having to relearn the game again but I’m reminded now on why I believed GW2 is the best MMO I’ve ever played.

My question is that even though I have a level 80 thief, I would really like to try out the GS/Sniper Warrior for WvW. That just looks like a ton of fun! However, I really HATE leveling and was wondering, what are some good ways to level my character quickly so that I can start enjoying WvW again? I know crafting works well but I’ve heard that I should hold off on crafting too much until around level 30-40. Is leveling in WvW effective?

Any advice would be great!

Levelling is VERY effective in WvW.

You make tons of karma, which you can use to buy suitable WvW gear from vendors in the bg. (keep your gear as current as possible then it gets uplevelled properly with you)
Stay with the zerg for maximum loot minimum danger. NEVER travel alone if you can possibly help it. (Unless you are a Thief or Mesmer)

Crafting is a big gold-sink, avoid if possible.
Ditto, avoid the magic toilet and all forms of bling – gold-sinks all.
Sell all loot and gatherings on the TP – you will be amazed how much people will pay for stuff.

Do you recommend buying those exp boosters or just stick with normal food?

Crafting can be a gold sink…..but if you are using it to level, why would that matter? I seriously doubt you can level up a character in WvW as fast as you can via crafting (not that I suggest using crafting for that purpose).

Since you scale up in WvW, it is a viable place to level if that is your ultimate goal anyway.

If you are wanting some PvE and exploration (doesn’t sound like the OP does, however), running thru zones doing the Renown Hearts is the best XP for your time.

Since I’m having fun doing it, I don’t really pay any attention to levelling as such so I just stick with normal food buffs. I’d rather win a fight than gain a few XP.

On my current character (lvl 55 now) I’ve thought about crafting a few levels but decided I can’t be bothered. Even for the matter of 5-6 gold to go up 10 levels with cooking, it just doesn’t seem worth the effort of assembling the mats and going through the guide. – I’d rather be fighting.
