LF: lvl 80 Guide - What to do now?
First: Get full green gear. That means all your armor, weapons, underwater weapons, and jewelry should be green and level 80. These are very cheap.
Second: Try a taste of everything. There big four atm (before this laurel patch) are dungeons, fractals, WvW, and farming.
- Dungeons: I would recommend doing all the paths in Ascalonian Catacombs (in the plains of ashford) a few times. This should get you accustomed to the enemy strength in dungeon and let you adapt accordingly. CoF is another popular one, but most can be tackled. gw2lfg.com is your friend.
- WvW: You should be in a WvW guild to really enjoy this. I personally find that small teams of 5-10 are the most effective, especially when breaking/making supply chains. You can also move around the map without being as readily seen, but can also take on smaller encounters. Running with the zerg occasionally is fun as well.
- Fractals: A bit harder then dungeons, but also a bit more rewarding. After FotM level 10, you will begin to see a condition called agony. In order to defend against it, you’re going to need ascended gear exclusive to the FotM dungeon. At the time of this writing, that means rings and back pieces.
- Farming: Search for Orr farming guides as well as Rich Orichalcum ore farming guides.
If you choose to go for a legendary, PACE YOURSELF. Also, create the mystic clovers first
Hope this helps.
“A release is 7 days or less away or has just happened within the last 7 days…
These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”
That was a great guide Vorch! I’ve done a few dungeons so far and they are quite different than what I was used to with SWTOR and WoW. They really keep you on your toes. As for my gear, it’s mostly mid-70’s “yellow” gear which from what I’ve seen, is about on par with level 80 greens.
As for WvW, you’re right… I really need to go ahead and join a guild. I didn’t want to join a guild until I hit 80 and could actually be a benefit to them. I suppose it’s time to find one now.
You don’t have to be level 80 to benefit a guild. Doing dynamic events at any level, especially when in a party with a guild member, adds influence to the guild allowing it to build more goodies.
Ok, I have another question and I apologize for my noobness….
In SWTOR and WoW, once you reach max level there were several things you can do solo to help get honor points or other items which you can turn in for gear. Is there something similar here? The reason I ask is because most of the time I’m limited to about an hour or so and that makes it very difficult to find a group.
