Guild Wars 2

Run the game this afternoon, downloaded the most recent update and now I can’t get past the launcher. Same crash each time, have tried restarting etc.

Have sent off the bug report, but was wondering if anyone else had the issue and knows a workaround.

Really don’t want to miss out on this event

Navigate to this location in windows explorer by clicking start and click Documents.

C:\Users\your user name here\Documents\Guild Wars 2
or
C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2 (if your running Windows XP)

*You will find a file called Local.dat.
*Delete this file and try relaunching your client.

It’s possible this will fix your problem. Worth a shot.

If your willing we can try to repair the client.

On your desktop right click your GW2 shortcut and go to properties.

*A box will pop up and you will see a box field next to Target:
*Mine looks like this Target: “D:\Game Files\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe”
*So it should look like this in the end “D:\Game Files\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair

Simply add -repair to the end of this target path and click apply then ok and try launching the client.

Remember to remove the -repair afterwords when it’s done.

Use at own discretion this might cause a large download and I’m not 100% sure it will work for ya.

Nope, same thing. Crash as soon as I run the launcher. Scanning the forums doesn’t look like anyone else has the issue.

Might have to completely redownload, but given it takes me about 80 hours to download GW2, I really hope I don’t have to lol.

Could you post the full error log in a spoiler for us?

Use this as an example

I think nvidia has a more recent driver. I would try updating your GPU drivers and see if that does it.

Hmm… problem potentially solved. I renamed my exe to GW2OLD, and transferred my GFs exe across and it managed to get into the launcher. Its downloading a file atm, and will see how we go.

Success, the exe fixed the problem. No idea why mine decided not to work, but up and running and in game. Those pumpkins need to beware!
