Hey guys, I have a question.

What happens if I learn an armorsmith recipe if I don’t have armorsmith but instead have something else like leatherworking? Normally the game doesn’t let me learn recipes for crafting professions I do not have, but I can learn a recipe I got from this new living story episode.

So what happens if I use it? Is it destroyed or will I have the recipe when I create a character with the armorsmith profession?

You can change crafting professions on a single character. You don’t lose the progress you made with the profession you’re changing out either. All you have to do is go to the other trainer of your choice and ask the npc to make the switch then chose which one you want to drop. It might cost a very small fee depending on how high you had leveled the profession in question should you decide to switch back to it.

You should have that recipe available if you switch to the appropriate profession. Some recipes can be used with any of the armor making professions, so it would let you use it regardless of which one you have.

Yes it does.

The recipes are character bound. If you don’t have armorsmithing you can still learn the recipe and have it when you choose to learn armorsmithing. You can have all crafting professions on one character, just 2 active tho. Switching your active crafting professions keeps all your learned recipes and levels so not a problem to do it often, except a fee of a few silver coins.
