Hey guys im not sure if i should go for a legendary before HoT. Some people are telling me no but i really want other opinions also. Thank you

That’s up to you. You likely don’t have time to make one (unless you have a lot of gold) between now and HoT anyway. What you might want to do is gather the components that are universal to all the legendaries and sit on those until you know what the initial three HoT legendaries will be, in case one of them catches your fancy in a big way. Plus in HoT you’ll have a guaranteed way of getting your desired precursor.

Me, I’ve never bothered making even one legendary and I’ve played since early-access launch. It’s been more long term concentrated effort and resource dedication than I really wanted. So I’m quite comfortable with advising people to wait

What I would do is get everything you need bar the precursors. Then when HoT launches see how easy the pre you want is to get. Then desire if you want to get it that way, or just buy.

HoT is only really changing 2 things: how you get precursors and the number of available legendaries. So you might want to wait to see what’s on offer, and/or to buy a precursor, but if you know what you want to go for then go for it.

Legendary crafting only takes about a week and earning gold for pre would take about 2 weeks. Not that long. Depends on how well you can make your gold.

If you play all day everyday. But if you can get 1000 gold in 2 weeks how do you do it? Every dungeon patch every day? Then what about the Karma for the oby shards, I know you can get them other ways, but karma is less rng. Then you have the 250 of each T6 mat. Plus the 100g needed for runic stones, and what ever lode stones you might need. Not to.mention the spirit shards needed for the forge items, the need to do world completion, the badges of honour. Yeah. I can see some one getting all that.in 3 weeks………

I second the notion of getting everything but the pre. by the time HoT comes out with the legendary mastery line to scavenger hunt your precursor of choice, you can feasibly obtain the required gifts first. The precursor is the most RNG part of this, and once the expansion comes out it will no longer be RNG.

Sw Event and chest train easy obsidian shards and spirit shard. T6 matt also come along as well with some extra lodestone or core. Dungeon runs. Also if you can flip market while your at it fast gold income. If you do that and play all day then you can finish in 10 to 11 days if not all day then around 3 week.

Here’s the question you should ask yourself:

• Would I prefer to wait 5+ months to enjoy being among the first to get one of the new style legendaries? OR
• Would I love having one the current legendaries now and take my time getting one of the newer ones.

I used “five months” because (a) we know that it’s going to be 2-3 months before HoT is out and (b) we can reasonably expect that it will take 2-3 months to “earn” a legend using the new system. Why so long? You’ll have to build up a variety of masteries, farm new materials with likely low drop rates, learn new recipes or crafts (maybe), and so on. We know that ArenaNet was surprised that people learned how to create legendaries so fast after GW2’s launch, so I imagine they will build in some gating (both forced and sort of organic) into the process.

tl;dr there’s still a long time before any of us will be sporting one of the new legends (and who knows if we’ll even like them).

Now I know you are talking rubbish. If you have enough money to flip the market, you would have enough gold to buy a legendary anyway. It is a lot more time consuming to get a legendary than you are making out. If it took as little as 3 weeks to get one everyone would have one. It is not that easy. As I said you have to get the Badges of Honour for the gift. World completion for the gift. These thing would cut into your farming time, so you are just talking trash.
