As many of you already know, getting all your mats for a Legendary can be a huge task and If you pursue it too heavily then you might get burnt out. If you are like me, you saw the legendary as a awesome reward that you just had to work towards!

So I did! Started with the dungeons and crafting I would need. Then the world exploration. Then WvW badges. Got My 250 obsidian shards. Next I made 77 Mystic clovers. I was feeling really really close to my Legendary! So I sat down and did some quick math to see how much Gold I would need since I am only a few skill points away from the 200 I need for a Bloodstone shard. T6 mats sure are pricey but I have a few of them already. Oh and my precursor! After a quick ten minutes passed I realized that I was only 1100 Gold away from my very own legendary!

A quick look over my finances showed me just how far I actually had to go. I farm roughly 10G a day and don’t mess with the TP very much. 1100/10= 110 days= 1 million years in gamer time

So I came up with a plan!
You may be familiar with kickstarter Its a website were people state a goal for money (and what they plan on using it for) and then people donate. But if the persons Goal isn’t reached in donations by the end of the time frame no money exchanges hands and people can donate to some other cool idea.

So my idea is this: I will leave this post up for 1 week and If you would like to donate post below, but if we don’t reach our goal of 1100 gold then you don’t have to send me any gold (unless you just wanted too.

But I don’t just want your gold! I will be paying back my donors as I farm the gold starting with the highest doners first!

Much like kickstarter I have rewards for my doners

1g to 5g -110% of your gold will be returned to you within 6 months
5g1c to 20g – 120% of your gold will be returned to you within 6 months
20g1c and up- 125% of your gold will be returned to you within 6 months

The first doner will get to choose my color scheme for my armor until all the gold is returned to the donors!

The Largest doner will get to determine what North American server I will call home. As well as an extra guild member should they desire a person with 3 level 80s and entirely too much free time.

As I come up with more rewards I may add them! Feel free to suggest some that you might like to see.

Would you like to Donate mats instead of gold? Mats are actually better because their price doesn’t flux. I will note the current buy Price of when I get the mats and count that as your donation amount!

My Goal is that if this is successful we might in the future be able to make this a feature of the Players helping Players forum that can be player organized!

hmm interesting idea. and i call you crazy!! that being said.. lol, what about a service for those that donate as well? for e.g. if they donate say 1g or whatever amount, they get 1 “call for help” and you must aid them in say.. getting a skillpoint in Malchor’s leap. or they’re missing a 5th man for a dungeon run and you cannot leave until it’s done?

also, i assume you’ll be able to repay anyone who lends you gold within 6 months, using the stats you’ve given (10g per day). so you really just want to get your legendary asap? as you’d be essentially farming 25% more gold than you need, AFTER you’ve gotten your legendary. just curious : ))

I like your idea, but I am tethered to one server so I wouldn’t always be able to help those in need. Although I have no problem helping pretty much anyone who asks =)

Yes I will be able to afford to repay everyone within 6 months based on current projections. and yes I would be willing to repay 25% on a loan in order to get my legendary sooner. For me my legendary isn’t the ultimate goal. Its a big one, but not the end of my enjoyment of Gw2. I enjoy farming as i said and have just started touching fractals. I enjoy WvW but want to get more organized and feel like I have accomplished my biggest farming goal before I spend too much time in it.

Anyway, this was just a thought. If it doesn’t work out, so be it =). Is it crazy? Yep. But so are alot of kickstarter ideas! Sometimes people see them and want to make a small donation and sometimes people see them and think that the person is crazy and there is no way in kitten that i would donate 1 copper.

FYI for those who do invest Gold in the TP they can tell you that what I am offering in return is a very small amount. 25% of 100 gold in 6 months would be a terrible rate of return for most people who play the TP. If you are interested in making more gold faster there are a number of good threads in the black lion trading post sub forum

this reminds of those stories i read about eve online where someone or group of people act as a “bank” and then one day dissappear with the all the money. this reminded me alot of those articles, either way made me laugh.
