So with the new Ascended weapons, is it easier to go for an Ascended weapon, or go for the Legendary? Or do they use enough different ingredients that it’s worthwhile pursuing both?

Ascended should be quite a bit easier… but they do use somewhat different materials (obsidian shards are the big crossover, I think, but you do not need many for an ascended weapon).

Assuming you don’t want to wait and just buy the time gated materials, an ascended weapon would cost under 100g. A legendary on the other hand would cost 1540g.
The only reason to go for a legendary is for the look.
