Just curious. The level scaling in this game seems to give it immense content for when you hit 80 (being able to go anywhere and have it scale you to the content level). My only concern is this:

If im 80, in a level 25 zone, are the items that drop, and other various rewards for killing stuff, and completing events, scaled to be level 80 in value?

Or will i be a level 80, scaled down, getting rewards designed for someone who is level 25? (ie: level 25 items, karma amounts for someone level 25, money rewarded to someone who is 25, etc).

I noticed a good percentage of my loots are lvl appropriate for my toon. They are not the best stuff, but sometimes they aren’t bad. I don’t think I have gotten anything over my toon’s level if I’m in a lower level area. This is only my own observation though.

It will be a mixed bag as you go into the lower areas. Yes you will see level 80 items but you will also see items for the level of the zone you are in.
What ratio I do not know.

yep been almost a month now, three large threads open all asking the same thing, still no response from the devs about this issue. (don’t worry you wouldnt be able to find them thru search)

They have changed and explained that in one of the recent patches.
You can get loot for your level if the zone is at least about 2/3 of your level; it was said that you can find level 80 loot in a level 55+ area.

To add to what DesertRose said, in lower level zones you can still find near-level appropriate loot, however it won’t reach level 80.

Fine crafting materials are scaled to the content, not to you—you will need to go to tougher zones to get t5/6 materials.

Only some of the loot is scaled to your level—you will find some that is level-appropriate.

Rewards from DEs scale with level, however the base reward is higher in higher level areas.

I find predominantly level 72 to 78 gear in the starter zones when I play with my friends. And by predominantly I mean of actual equipment drops, not of overall drops.

I can confirm that you can find 70+ loot when doing starting areas. I get lvl 76 blue sword when i was scaled to lvl5 in Caledon Forest.

From my experience when doing starter areas around 50% of my loot was 70+. There where a lot of 40+ and sometimes even lvl 4 or 5.

In 50+ areas i get 70+ loot nearly 100% of time.
