Guild Wars 2

Hi mateys. I was looking at getting back into guild wars 2 for the new expansion getting released soon. I’ve had a quick look over the new features and they mainly seem to be features for Max level characters. I already have a Max level warrior but felt like playing a different class this time.
Basically my question was; do you think it would be better to level the new character now in preparation for the expansion or to wait until it is released to level the character? (For ultimate fun potential of course)

If you want to do the new areas you have to be max level so I’d say level the character during this month so its ready when expansion hits

If you wait till HoT, you can experience the new leveling system they’re giving out

Also you cant level in the new class til HOT drops.

Oh….new leveling system….. I haven’t heard anything about that, I’ll need to look this stuff up.

I’m not sure what new leveling system they are talking about, unless it’s the Mastery lines for level 80s.

If it were me, I’d get the new char to level 80 before the expansion, for a couple of reasons.
1) so you can play it in the new area when it starts.
2) exp gained by level 80s goes towards the mastery lines. If you’re spending time leveling, all that time and exp (about 4 million exp to reach max level iirc) is not going towards post 80 progression.

In addition, you might hold off doing map completions. Again, all that exp will be lost to the Mastery lines if done by a pre level 80 or done before the expansion.

Ahhh OK, yeah I had heard of the mastery lines.

Very good points, I’ve been levelling for a day or 2 now and I’ll keep at it.
