Levelin is so long and slow ! Any advices ?
Simplest is just map completion and do all the events as you run across them(no need to go around asking people about events, just do the one that appear on your minimap).
Each WP/POI obtained gives exp, each area uncovered gives exp. Finishing a heart gives exp/karma/coin. Finishing a zone gives additional exp crafting materials and items.
Kill all the neutral(yellow) mobs you come across, most of them get ignored and they will often have the full(250%) bonus exp.
Harvest everything, every swing of your axe/pick/sickle gives exp approximately equal to killing something.
Get some cheap food(doesn’t matter which as long as it’s the cheapest and you meet the level requirement) from the TP. That will give a +10% exp per kill. Also get one of the sharpening stones/maintenance oil/arcane crystals for another +10%.
You could also join a guild, some will keep the +exp buff running. You can also use the exp banners people place in the world, it doesn’t matter which guild placed the banner you can use them regardless. People usually put those near the bank in Lion’s Arch.

You shouldn’t need much money to craft. Most of the materials you can gather out in the world. And you’ll want to be gathering them because it also gives you XP.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Out of curiosity what do you think you’ll be doing when you get to the end of the game?
I found leveling to be very easy and fast. Just get 100% on as many areas as possible and do daily every day.
Group with people and get armor with toughness so you can do more events faster and do all the low level zones first.
Hi guys, I am just sick and tired of leveling so slow it too boring for me i wanna reach the end ASAP. I really wanna get to lv 80 guys i need ur help and pls do reply.
BTW DO NOT TELL ME ABT CRAFTING. Cause i don’t have enough in game currency to do it cause i don’t have any character at lv 80 as i started 2 weeks ago and spent my time decding my main and alts.
Thx guys and waiting eagerly for ur replies!
Leveling is boring ? leveling should be fun,you should Explore and take note of your surroundings and the quests youre doing. Not trying to rush to 80 and find out you have nothing to do at the end…I dont get people trying to rush to 80,whats the point ?
Leveling is pretty much the thing you’re suppose to do the whole game. At 80 I personally do the same things as I did when I was for example level 40. The only thing that changed is that I can do the most dungeons and that I have better gear. I personally think leveling is not slow in GW. In most MMO’s, the further you get the lesser experience you get. In GW gaining experience is quite even.
But to answer your question. Wvw and dungeons are giving out lots of experience. If you can’t do a dungeon yet, explore and harvest everything. You can craft with the materials you’ve gathered, though.
Leveling in GW is faster than in any other MMO i’ve played and that’s saying a lot . As others have said do map completion on zones DEs and gather but another important thing to remember is your personal story you get a rather large chunk of XP from doing it.
Well, I been taking a “slow” route and leveled in WvW got to level 45 and did around 6 of those in pve only. It can be fast if you get lots of events and an active community, that or get exploring and just running around having fun. I played WoW for over 4 yrs and tried a few other mmo’s, but GW2 is super fast and super fun. Just don’t expect to hit 80 and look for an “end game” cause there isn’t any. The entire game is end-game.

If you find pre-80 game play boring, you’ll find post-80 game play just as boring since it’s the same.

If you don’t like levelling, chances are you won’t like being max level either, as you won’t be doing much different at max level than you do while levelling.
What I do with levelling is exploring the zones, doing my personal story, gather materials and use them for crafting. Also I join dungeon groups sometimes. Got my Thief to level 80 in no-time.
I’ve leveled all my characters in WvW. It usually goes quite fast, especially if you have a guild group together.

I agree with this. It’s kinda hard to recommend options when we aren’t really clear ‘why’ they want to get to ‘the end’ so quickly.
Could you tell us what you are hoping to do once you get there?
Without any other information, and only knowing you don’t like to craft, I have heard that WvW is very fast. Myself, I really don’t like ‘most’ PvP in games, but WvW (and DAoC and Wintergrasp in WoW) I find myself enjoying quite a bit. Might be worth a try.
Play a Korean style MMO!

Ok u guys have been asking me y i want to reach lv 80 ASAP cause i don’t have any lv 80s and i wanna experience lv 80s. Then ima go lv my alts slow steady and havin fun. The craze in me which is that i want a lv 80 character spoils the fun of lvling. So once i have a lv 80 i can slow down and have fun.
You will not survive the end game if you think it is boring now.
To answer your question. Never stay in one spot too long and don’t keep killing the same things. Both will cause diminishing returns to kick in. Reducing your incoming point to zero eventually. Usually within an hour
Additionally. You are in the end game now. That is why we get our levels reduced when we go to lower level areas. You are surrounded by the end game. Thus my statement you will not survive in this game long

Honestly that’s entirely the wrong approach to take with this game. There is very little you can do at 80 that you can’t do earlier. A few zones will be too tough, but there’s enough content in the other zones that you shouldn’t need to worry about them for ages anyway.
Also if you’re putting off everything you want to do until you’re level 80 then either you’re going to be very disappointed when you get there, or it means you’re avoiding your Personal Story, hearts, dynamic events, dungeons, WvW etc. etc. in favour of grinding mobs or something similar, which is not only extremely boring, it’s actually slowing your levelling down dramatically.
The best way to play this game is to focus on what you want to do, but do a bit of everything else as you come across it. If you want to do WvW go there, you’ll be scaled up so you can compete but you’ll also get XP. If you want to do your story, or explore the world or whatever then do it, but as you’re going along harvest all the nodes you come across, do dynamic events if they start up near you (and wait around a bit because they often chain so another one might start shortly after), do hearts when you’re in the area.
Not only will that get you a whole lot more XP than trying to focus on any one thing at a time, but once you stop thinking about what level you are it will seem to go a lot faster than when you’re watching that little yellow bar creep up every time you kill something.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
I can sympathize with the OP, actually.
I’ve been playing since launch and have one 80. When I play her, I’m never bored, no matter what I’m doing- exploring PvE, dungeoning, WvWing. However, when I level my alts, I’m deathly bored and wish constantly that I could jump to 80.
The reason lies partly in that I’ve explored the zones many times before, so the charm’s worn off partly. A larger reason, though, is that I enjoy playing the game with a maxed character- all traits and skills unlocked. I love playing with builds, testing what a class can do, and finding all sorts of neat tricks, but before 80, I feel limited. The world is gorgeous, but in the back of my head, I keep thinking that the class is great now, but oh my god it’s going to be even better later on blah this is going so slow only three more bars until I can unlock that trait I’ve been dying to test out
That being said, I do believe that if your only reason for rushing to 80 is to “unlock the game,” or just to be 80, slow down. Especially if its your first character and all the zones are new, with all their secrets undiscovered. Leveling in GW2 is steep initially, but it doesn’t get steeper, unlike other MMOs… last one I played takes a month for 79→80, and that’s only if you grind almost constantly.
I’ll second map completion- it gives a generous amount of exp and keeps you moving so the environment doesn’t get stale. I’ve heard some people hawk WvW, but early on, you’ll get killed a lot, as your traits/gear won’t scale up. Once you’re high enough, you can start hitting dungeons, which give nearly 80% of a level per completion, no matter what level you are.
Also, find a good guild/leveling buddies. It makes it a lot more fun.
Best of luck!

Play the low level zones if your having trouble. You will get plenty of exp in them and you should be doing the exploration for exp and reward anyway. I have leveled a toon to 80 never going beyond a teir 2 zone. Also currently the story quest zones [ the teir 2 Charr zone and the teir 1 Norn zone] are offering high bonus exp per kills. Do all the events you see for karma and exp bonuses and try to accomplish the daily’s too.
It sounds to me like your trying to play this like it was a different game, just relax and try to see what you might be missing.

Out of curiosity what do you think you’ll be doing when you get to the end of the game?
^this – this isn’t a traditional MMO where the real game doesn’t start until level cap. After 80, you will continue to run dungeons and explore the world, & complete maps. You can already do WvW & PvP at lvl 2. The only thing 80 gets you is Fractals. So if that doesn’t sound awesome, this might not be the game for you.
Having said that…
- get cheap food from TP
- join a guild with buffs
- explore explore explore
- map complete
- gather everything
- run some dungeons as you unlock them for a change of pace
- you can level certain crafts (artificer, cooking) for pretty cheap and/or with already gathered mats
- use your black lion keys on your mess of stored chests – you might luck out & get a +XP booster

I agree with a few of the posts above. Leveling is a core aspect of the game. If you do not like leveling, you likely won’t like the game. (At least on the PvE side of things).

Lies! There is a difference… instead of looking at the xp bar, you go for high end gear, run dungeons, fractals, wvw is much more fun as a very geared 80 than a undergeared 40.
I Highly recommend you Quit GW2 before you realize the game wasn’t built for your kind.
Honestly, if you do NOT enjoy GW2 now, you won’t enjoy it at lvl80.
The point of leveling is to unlock new areas to explore for the contents you enjoy.
Either play the game and have fun or quit. But do NOT Grind your way up.
Grinding is NOT playing
Grinding is Rushing
Play the game if you are having fun…. seriously… That’s what games are for! -_-
I have to disagree with people stating that the game does not significantly change at 80. There are several important reasons to knock out those levels, IMHO:
- Level 70-80 rares drop, which are a notable source of income.
- You can equip exotics, and wear them into WvWvW
- Daily reward from world bosses
- Low level friends will benefit greatly from your aid, as long as you make sure they’ve had a chance to tag something before you oneshot it. And you’ll be equally entitled to rewards, including the aforementioned rares.
This “slow down and enjoy the journey” tripe gets repeated every time this question gets asked, even for people who have an 80 already and just want to see different sides of the personal story, or try a different profession in WvWvW. I wish I had a better answer for you, but the advice given here is the same stuff I’ve already seen when trying to google the problem.
Welcome to the world of RPG’s.
Find things to do along the way to keep things entertaining.
Try different ways of leveling. If your issue is that map completion is lonely, you have several options:
Ask in map chat if anyone wants to group with you to do map completion. Good way to meet other players if you’re on a medium or high population server.
Join a guild that does map completions (as a group) regularly.
Level in WvW. This can be slow, but it’s rarely lonely.
Level in fractals. Admittedly very repetitive, but again, you’re in a group.
Level in dungeons. This is probably the fastest way to level in any case, plus you’re in a group.
With anything you do in PvE, use food buffs for the +10% exp gain.

None of the things you mention will matter if the player doesn’t enjoy the core game play, which is what you experience on your way to 80.
If you find the game play boring, what does wearing exotics or getting better loot change to your enjoyment?

The only thing 80 gets you is Fractals. So if that doesn’t sound awesome, this might not be the game for you.
Even then you can technically do fractals at lvl 2 too if you want (and can find a group), not that i would recommend that though as you likely get killed very fast, though around 30-40 if you know what you doing you should be fine in there

I 100% agree with this.
Just quit the game and leave if it’s boring to level because that’s what PvE is all about. It’s about leveling to unlock newer areas to explore to do contents you enjoy during the adventure and storyline.
None of the things you mention will matter if the player doesn’t enjoy the core game play, which is what you experience on your way to 80.
I don’t know. I enjoy several aspects of the “core gameplay”. I find Mesmers and Guardians to be fairly unique playstyles in the scope of online RPGs. I like seeing a centaur fortress becoming occupied by Seraph due to my actions. GW2 is probably the only buy2play game that offers something like WvWvW.
But, I hate doing a lot of the things associated with “the journey”, such as filling in renown hearts, wasting money on crafting, changing zones in order to find content my level, being at the whims of a zerg in WvWvW, and doing all of the above because the personal story doesn’t reward enough XP to keep at its level.
So I can see it being feasible that the OP becomes frustrated with the XP rate without it necessarily meaning they dislike the game itself.
we’re just trying to save everyone some grief by telling them to cut their losses early.
Totally back this statement
Take it slow and make sure you enjoy the profession you’ve rolled. Explore each area, do the dynamic events. Once you get high enough, run dungeons intermittently. To get money, run and gather materials. Most of all, don’t rush it. You’ve got a lot to enjoy from 1 to 80.
But I enjoy pugging dungeons over and over again and you may not. Or maybe you just want to get to 80 gear up and wvwvw idk.
Exactly this wat i want to do especially wvwvw. I wanna do solo roamer in wvwvw for that i need to get to lv 80 also i need good gears to survive. I can also assure you people that i will not get disapointed when i reach lv 80.
Ignore these people saying that if you hate levelling, you’ll hate the game post-80. It’s simply not true.
I have 6 level 80s, the last four of which I’ve hated levelling, but absolutely adored playing when they’ve got to 80 with full exotic gear, all traits and skills unlocked.
Prior to 80, you can’t really play the game properly; your character is critically kitten
You can kind of play with builds, but they feel restricted without having access to everything you have at 80. The fun at 80 is mastering your character and knowing that you’ve unlocked all of the tools necessary to do so.
Levels are only in this game because the majority of the userbase don’t have the imagination to play a game without them.
As for speed-levelling, crafting is the way to go. I’d say aim for half and half: 40 through world mapping, 40 through crafting.
It gets easier to level with crafting the more characters you have, as you’ll be acquiring more resources.
While levelling through mapping, try to stick to event-rich areas. Harathi Hinterlands is an excellent place for this with the ongoing centaur war that means there are always long, rewarding event chains to join. Iron Marches has a similar event chain.
Do not dismiss the ability to level in low-end areas either. While you won’t quite be getting the same amount of XP as in level appropriate areas, you’ll be able to complete events quicker and easier, so it evens out.
The other benefit here is that GW2 is somewhat front-loaded. They poured a lot of effort into starter zones so as to hook people early, so you’ll find a wide variety of interesting things to do there. Caledon Forest for example has FOUR jumping puzzles, as well as the Jungle Wurm event chain.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.

Exactly some1 who understands me and thx bro
I highly recommend to stop looking at the exp bar and the number next to it (except when judging whether or not an area will be lvl appropriate.
Think of it this way: This is your first playthrough. You are now seeing everything in this game for the first time, everything is still fresh and surprising and interesting. Once you’ve seen a large part of the game (and you will, by the time you’ve played through the entire story once), it won’t be as fresh and exciting anymore. Believe me, I’ve been playing since the first beta open to the public, and while I still love the game, it just…lost quite a bit of its wonder.
Of course, you could just level from 1 to 80 in WvW and go to PvE afterwards, but then you won’t be able to use any of the story/heart reards anymore.
Doing events when they spawn around you will also help you level. Even doing an event in a zone that’s lower level than you are will give you quite some exp. Crafting, gathering and mapping are great way to level. And your personal story is too. But that’s not for everyone I believe.
@smeen: I shied away from recommending the Personal Story, as it gets very repetitive very quickly. Myself, after exploring all pact story lines, I have no desire to ever play the personal story ever again. The drops and rewards are crappy, the presentation poor and half of the voice acting (if not more) is appalling.
And it doesn’t give a huge amount of experience considering the difficulty spikes that are present throughout. It has a nasty tendency to kill you without warning.
There’s not even a title for completing the story, and the pact weapon tokens? Well, I still have all three in storage. I find it a slap in the face that as the commander of the pact, all you get are bad rares for completing the story. The rewards need to be BIS, much the same as they were in GW1.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
My advice is : completely forget about lvl80 and start enjoying the game without looking at the level, I tend to not look at my experience bar too often and it feels as if it keeps rushing from left to right. How you ask? Just play every area untill you have seen it all and you are ready for a new thing! Discover every point, try to be a part of every event and kill some monsters just for fun and testing you ever changing gear skills etc… If you start looking for the beauty of the game, the next level will come without you knowing!
And when you reach max, you will want to do it all over! Or keep perfecting your character and battle other players
