Leveling In GW2

loot i think. you get the loot at the same level of the mobs.
Player versus environment
In PvE, a character’s effective level and attributes are automatically reduced based on the enemy levels immediately around the player, and there can be numerous level scalings per area/zone. Skills and equipment are retained, so the area is easier because of this, but should still be challenging to play.
The benefits of this are:
- high level characters are prevented from killing enemies too easily and depriving low level characters of rewards;
- low level content doesn’t become obsolete once a character reaches a higher level.
A scaled down character continues to receive experience and loot that is comparable to what he would receive at his real level, but it is somewhat less efficient for obtaining experience and items than playing level-appropriate content.
This system also works in dungeons. If a character’s level is higher than the effective level of a dungeon, the character will be scaled down to the appropriate effective level of the dungeon. Effective levels of story and explorable modes of dungeons are different.
Those were good thoughts about it.
You get lower reward (karma, cash, loot) from events/killing mobs.
Still while you are downscaled you do more dmg since the all traits you have. This why it’s very easy to level still in low lvl areas. (correct again if I’m wrong)
I still believe this whole system is great in all it’s matter. It adds quite much the replay ability to it.
Edit; I read it more carefully and do the traits get lowered too?

No traits are not changed. The attributes they give you (by putting points in a trait category) are lowered to a limit deemed appropriate for the mobs you are around. You do however keep any bonuses to skills like swiftness on kit use or throwing an extra grenade or the like.
Hope that helps!
Also, not all loot drops are scaled to the area. There are some drops that can have much higher level loot.
I was in Gendarran Fields (lvl 26-32) last evening at level 70, and got a few level 50-60 items.

In my opion this is bit bad thing. Thought you get them rarely but it’s pretty easy to kill mobs/bosses, but yeah, this whole system is still quite good idea. Get’s much replay ability to this game. Althought people rarely go to low lvl areas due the high travel cost.
Thx for all about their thoughts

The items you loot while playing at lower level is <normal loot level for the area>-<your real level>, ends included. So if you are lvl 80, at a lvl 15 area killing lvl 15 mobs, you can receive loot which is between lvl 15 and lvl 80.
Going to a lower level area will grant smaller bonuses to the event rewards. For instance on my 80, doing an event in Frostgorge or Cursed Shore will give 16-17k exp. Doing an event in a 1-15 area will grant a bit over 3k experience. The other maps range between. The karma and money rewards are also scaled.
Loot drops over time end up being about half the level of the area (giving you the ability to get the lower tiers of cloth and leather), and about half your level.
PvE map completion will give you two rewards the level of the map. WvW maps I’m not sure about since they were changed.
