Q:
Essentially, I’ve tried to level four characters up to this point, and I’ve explored the basic starting zones of all of the non-human characters.
The three characters currently on my account (undeleted) are:
A Charr Necro (Name Edgy and French) – I’ve kind of stopped using her, although maybe I’ll get back to her some time or another? Eh. Honestly, I just booted up the game to look at her abilities and they were…sort of complicated. More complicated than my butt could handle at level fourteen, so I had to wonder what a Level 80 Necro is like. So I probably won’t be touching her French furry butt any time soon.
An Asura Thief (Name Norweigan, I think) – The glorious cadence of 5211111 appealed to me, as did the MAD SCIENCE thing. I’m a big fan of science in fantasy, hence why I used to play an Engi before Engis turned out to be way more complicated than I intended for. Her playstyle’s complicated by my low standards, but I can kind of get a grip on it?
and A Sylvari Warrior (Named Maeve Mabschild, because when I created her I wanted to make a character who A. wouldn’t die to a single hit, B. would have a “Dresden Files Winter Fae Jerk Thing” going on, and who would C. be different from the Norweigan science murder gnome. Also, I heard that Warriors were, to summarize, for people who just want to kill things, and that kind of described me. Her playstyle so far’s extremely simple. Jump at people, stab them, keep stabbing them, then do the thing where you stab them a lot. (213 repeat). Moving between different enemies that way was just frankly enjoyable. She’s at level 5.
So, all of this is to say that there’s a part of me that wants to swap between the Warrior and the Thief, since I have more on the Thief and the Thief’s more detailed, but the Warrior’s a different and more relaxing playstyle that gets me killed less.
So, I’m wondering, would this compliment itself and allow for a more varied time leveling chars, or would it just be a great way to double the length of any kind of meaningful improvement, and I should just pick one?

Well, I have 10 characters that I play (one of each class and an extra guard cuz they are just so awesome). And 10 characters is a lot less than most people are playing that I talk to. Soooo, 2 characters is certainly not over doing it. Also, every race has multiple story lines to choose from so there is some variation with the leveling process.
However, if time management is an issue for you, I would recommend picking a “weight” class rather than a profession. That is to say, pick either heavy, medium, or light classes to play. Reason being, ascended gear (top tier gear) can be shared by characters of the same weight class. This can significantly reduce the cost and time of gearing your characters. For example, a warrior, guard, and rev can all share one set of gear (just swap the gear around based on whatever you feel like playing at the time). Obviously, it can be a nuisance having to swap gear, but its a good way to save a lot of time and money if these are going to be an issue for you.
Way back, when I was leveling characters, I probably leveled 7-9 or 10 at the same time. It doesn’t really make much difference in Core Tyria, especially ever since Season One.
But, if you want to take part in whatever is current, you might want to focus more on one than another, to be able to participate in L80 content.
Good luck.
