Leveling in WvW?
You can’t gain levels at all in WvW, but you occasionally get level up tomes. It’s not a great way to level.
It used to be a great way to level. They removed exp gains from wvw a couple of weeks ago, though. So, the old advice no longer applies.
you occasionally get level up tomes.
Is this earned randomly?
Thank you for the reply.

You get them at regular intervals from the reward tracks.

Thats exactly the information I needed; Thanks a lot!
One thing you might want to considered is, while you recive a boost to your stats you have very low armor and even trash dmg might kill you. Your dmg will be low as well. This may taint your experience in wvw, but whats more you will be a Chance for the enemy to rally. Zuge parts of the wvw community were quite vocal in their dismay with regards of so called upscaled players in their zergs. Outside of a zerg you will most certainly be prey for roamers, i suggest you reach lvl 80 first and give it a try. You may however encounter the term “rally bot”. Do not be bothered. Return once you are 80 and start gearing up. It may also pay out for you to talk to your server’s community, as they can help you more direct than the forum can.
I hope you find fun in wvw
You should also now get Tomes of Knowledge from ranking up in WvW, once you get past the initial few ranks that only give WXP boosters. You say you got to rank 5, so starting at rank 6 you should get Tomes.
So what good are the WXP Boosters now if there is no XP to Boost?

The boosters are for WXP as the name says and not for the removed EXP.

Ah, I get it. I only dabble in EotM for dailies when needed, so didn’t realize there was a difference.
EOTM is still very nice way to level. This assumes you are running the karma train and not Frostreach..
Each WvW level gets you a level up book and also 6 to 9 skill points. A solid karma train will get you 5 to 6 levels an hour.
That said, after the patch, you see more 80’s and actual WvW fights then before so there are nights where you get less karma trains.
2 weeks, and I have 2 new 80s from playing wvw, and leveled with tomes, I say wvw is a good option if you like it.

Going that route is best used as a “I’m playing this level 80 character and just saving the tomes for when I feel like leveling another.” WvW levels don’t come fast and furious unless you’re K-training, and that’s a pretty unique case (like the other teams have given up for the week). I solo roam and have only earned 2 or 3 WvW levels in the past couple weeks, which is utterly beyond useless as far as leveling.

This. I am over rank 1000 in WvW so I don’t know about low ranks, but at high ranks you get one tome / rank. I’ve already farmed over 180 tomes since the update… AND I can farm them on my main, no need to bring my squishy lowbies to EotM anymore. It’s actually an amazing way to level up IF you enjoy WvW or EotM. I find EotM faster because there are more events (champs to kill).
I got 4 tomes from couple of hours of WvW last evening. It was alright.
It actually depends on your server and the time you enter. I’m on a tier 1 server and we kill other zergs easily. Also, entering exactly at a new EotM round = more stuff to cap.
I usually get 5 Tomes / hour in EotM. WvW is slower.
